Yes, you can - however, you only earn 1/10 the cost of the appliance by selling it. It's better to store appliances (there is no limit on how many you can have stored), then just buy the new appliance you want to use.

You can store the appliance too. This would free up an appliance slot so that you can go buy a different one. I don't think you'd get much for the appliance if you sold it, but if you kept it in storage, you can pull it out again when you need it.
