Decorating Help?

What's the best way to decorate your island? I tried to decorate it but it still doesn't look good to me. Should I buy banners or buy house or what?

Two main things to remember while decorating are that it is about your personal taste & style, and even more importantly, you need to leave a little bit of room in order to move things around later on in the game.

Also, sometimes it helps to visit other islands in the community. You can get a lot of inspiration and ideas which you can then tweak a little to make them your own.

Aside from those things there's always good ol' trial & error, which sometimes leads to trial & success.
