Sending mystic maps to neighbors

Some of my neighbors have sent me requests for mystic maps but I'm not sure how this works - do I have to give away my own maps or is it like gold gifts where you can give out 3 gold per day but it doesn't come out of your own stock?

Be grateful for anyone who can explain. I have 6 requests waiting and am too afraid to say yes in case I lose all my maps!

Any maps in your inventory will be removed if you accept the request. Funny part is if you request maps from someone who has 0 maps they can still send you one.

Totally incorrect! They are free gifts just like gold, you don't get yours taken......
