moving items between islands

What are the rules regarding items moved between islands?
I've noticed that some habitats, farms, nests, etc. can be successfully moved, while others cannot.
Anybody know what's up?

Had the same problem but I figured out how to fix. Just move your screen as far as possible towards the island you want to move the item too with the item still in view. Then drag towards island. Wah lah works like a charm dragon
