Food Gives Free Gem, exp,and money

my gf have an itouch n i have one, we both play the same game, here is the problem,
on her itouch, when she is making food, the food will gain exp, up to level 4, and will give u a free gem + free money
but on my, it doesnt even have that bar, so does matter how much food im making i can't get gem through making food
