Did my gems glitch out?

In the last hour or so, I completed a request for Tofi, and my gem total was 67. Then I started playing with the promoted game to earn some more.

I did just that, and put up another pet room to collect 30 extra gems, and instead, I am somehow at 43 gems. Thats 24 missing plus 30 I didn't get D:

I checked to see that I didn't accidentally finish a construction with gems, and that one is still going. The soulmate and the offspring are still in progress too.

On the plus side, I got the 15 gems for the follow-up quest just fine, some I'm at 58 now.

The pet room you put up, was it a gem pet room?

no, I just quickly put up a sports field (which I sold soon after) to get my reward gems. The only gem room I have is Arctic Fox from a time prior to the olympic quests.
