I tap on the book, food comes up, but when I click on it, nothing. I can't cook. Ipad

Try force closing your game

Click you home button twice, your icons will show up at the bottom

You are not deleting the apps just closing them out. When you have app run in the background, it takes memory and slows up the games.

Double tap the home button, then hold one app until the minus sign shows up, and all of them start shaking.
