I am quite long time player, but honestly I never understood, what is watering good for? what?s the profit?

I know its nice, and I water myself... but whats the profit... ?

The waterer gets "popularity" stars so your star rating goes up, which makes it more likely that more people will want to water your crops and keep you on as a neighbour.

Collecting crops that have been watered also gives more money.

You get an extra $20 for each crop square that's been watered plus an extra experience point.

Watering improves your star rating from 0 to 4.

You're more likely to be at the top of the social watering list if you have a high star rating, so more likely to get watered (with it's profit of coins and XP points)

You're more likely to be accepted as a neighbor if you have a high star rating.

You're less likely to be dropped as a neighbor if you have a high star rating.

You can also earn collectibles by watering.
