View Full Version : A farm with no farm dog?

After power planting furiously to get to level 75 and start designing a real farm, I have nearly made it!
My excitement turned to horror however, when I searched the animal menu for a farm dog.............AND THERE ISN'T ONE!

Am I expected to round up my sheep with a corgi? Shall I invite the queen along while I'm at it? ( I could use a hand to shovel the horse manure)
The only other option is a dashund!

Where s the border collie, or blue heeler, or any other dogs that would be considered suitable to work on a farm?

Please TL, how about a real dog, preferably NOT wearing a tutu and a set of pearls. Thank you.

I have a basset hound. I believe he was a limited time offer. He looks farmy, sort of. And of course i got a pug wearing a pirate hat from a box.

No but I've heard of a Basset hound herding gnomes.

Oh yes, the Shipmate Pug is the most dependable of them all! :p
Thanks for the suggestion, we'll let the team know about the necessity for a herd dog.

Until then, you can rely on the Labrador to man the farm. He can be found within the Discovery Chest!

There's always the dog in the blue raincoat... For herding sheep in the rain, of course.

And there was that dog in a yellow frock. But i can't find her now. Maybe she was a limited edition.

I have had three bassets in real life and all three would herd the neighbor's cows, if the neighbor had sheep I am sure they would have done the same. Bassets are the best....but I can't buy one for my farm:(

Bassets are great dogs. Have you ever heard of a farmer having one as a work dog?

A chubby animated sheep dog would be nice. (like St. Bernard)

Oh they are gorgeous, huge, white bundles of love. I'll get a pic. They are excellent farm dogs. A friend of mine has one on her ranch and he's a great working dog but he's also wonderful with kids. The smaller kids can sit on him like he's a horse and he loves the attention.

They are stunning! And they look like good farm dogs.

I am sticking to my original opinion however, that border collies are the ultimate farm dog. They are undoubtedly the best sheep herders, and I should know, coming from the land of sheep! Lol!

WOW, I simply love the pyrenees. If tails could wag like St Berns, I won't mind spending 80 gems to own one too.

Yes, and please don't dress these dogs in clothings. They look so ridiculous. Will give the animal friends a miss if they are in clothings.

My neighbors have one named Daisy on their farm, she is a lover.

I?m playing farm story since halloween 2011 and love the game. The whole time throu I hoped for a new offer for the lovely St. Bernhard. Did not get the sale offer last year and my little gnome land is not complete without a farm dog. Even gnomes don?t want cloth wearing dogs. This is a very heavy petition, because 50 little gnomes are hoping for their farm dog.

A great Pyrenees wearing an outfit would be an outrage.

But then the dog in the yellow frock and the one in the raincoat and the hula pig and the soon coming turtles will all feel so ridiculous if the other animals don't have clothes!

Hello..... Corgi is the perfect farm, as they have a long history, traced back to 1107AD, as herding animals, sheep, geese, cattle. Originally breeded by Vikings, thnx Welsh.

Actually, Corgi's are awesome cattle herders! They're bred to nip at the back legs/heels, like "Heelers", which get the cattle moving. Figure the same would apply to sheep. They also make excellent children herders, so of you run a daycare out of your home, do NOT get a Corgi!

FYI - They had a Border Collie available once, but you had to buy a gem package to get it.

Maybe I should get a corgi to herd my kids up! My kids are more like wild animals than domestic though!

Ah, but they can dance...and rather well! Border Collies are probably one of the if not the smartest dog breed out there. I personally like the dumb ones. :)

I've always wanted a Pyrenees. My house just isn't big enough though.

Great Pyrenees don't herd...they protect. They're raise them from pups with the sheep, and they're white so they blend in with the flock. When the dog matures, it's natural protective instincts take over and, voil?, you have a guardian for your flock! They can easily take on a coyote, which is the number one ****er of sheep. It's so ingrained in some dogs that they don't want to be inside with the people. They prefer to be with sheep.
