Dragon breeding odds project... anyone interested in joining?

I've been keeping track of every breeding combination and their results, since I started playing Dragon Story. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in keeping track of all their breeding pairs and results, so we can start compiling a list with more accurate"birthing" odds hehe (and potentially find out which dragons seem to breed a rare or super rare with a higher probability).

Anyone interested? Remember, if you are going to report your results for something... you would have to (at least starting when you begin your list) record every dragon that is bred from a specific pair. Don't just log on and post "I bred an Island and Firestorm and got a Diamond" or the odds will be quite skewed.

Here's one list of breeding results to start out with... (it's accurate but can be looked at as an example too).

I was trying to get the Planet dragon that week, since it was just released along with Seabreeze

Obviously a lot of luck is involved and the odds are less accurate when you have very few results to use as a reference. If this list was standard for percentages... the odds would look something like this.... (disregarding Magic (purple) as a rare dragon)

25 total tries: 2 rare, 1 super rare, 22 common, which would come out to a whopping 8% chance to breed a Rare dragon, and a 4% chance to breed a Super Rare.


If anyone else is willing to join the project or is interested in it, I have lists for plenty of different breeding combinations. It would be really interesting to combine everyone's data to see what kind of results we get. ^_^

So in order to do this you would have to breed the same dragons in the same slots (left & right) for 25 straight tries? Wow that could take forever! Considering my luck I mostly get islands. But I shall try and post my results.

something else to consider is that you had four colors in the mix increasing the possible out comes.. When I am "trying" for a specific dragon, I use single element dragons to reduce the number of outcomes. The statistics should improve the chance for rare and super rare dragons... I would help out with this as I have nothing else to do and I am bored with breeding island x firestorm all the time...

I'm in. I had the same idea and I've kept my own breeding log. But I only started it recently (Sunday June 17) because I've been getting a lot of rares lately. Here's my list (I've used red, yellow, green, and blue dragons for this because I've found they work better for me if I try for rares):

Island-20 hrs
Serpent-16 hrs
Magic-20 hrs
Fruitful-10 hrs
Firestorm-12 hrs

Did u use same dragon parents for these and what dragons were they and at what level? I think ****bethy wants to know the specifics too, and you would have to repeatedly use same parents over and over again for 25 straight tries back to back. Correct me if I'm wrong ****bethy? I am now on attempt #6 so it's gonna take me a while to post my 25 breedings from the chosen parents I've decided to go with.

By the way, I'm using Seabreeze (L, L10) and Forestfire (R, L10). I'm not convinced that rarity or level help the odds, but it can't hurt to try a combo of super rares!

Got my diamond dragon on using the combo
seebreeze (10 - cloud) x life (10 - artemis) on first try!

Failed with all other combos hundred of times.

The most succeding combo was my
Familiar dragon (10) x mist (10)
Got all rare and superrares out with minimal failure.

I've only just started, but I'm using: Familliar Lvl10 (chanu) and Mist Lvl10 (nessy) - breeding order as mentioned.

Here's my results with breeding Mistmoths from the same two dragons always at level 6

so I guess it's at 50% right now, but seeing as Mistmoth is one of the highest gold earners outside of Diamond/Hybrids, I thought it might be helpful to some. ive been tracking the days and times of my breedings and have noticed that i seem to get rares/super rares in the morning afternoons EST, and commons in evenings/overnight for the most part.

you could easily figure out what the odds of getting an ultra rare dragon by repeatedly making crusader dragons. You could easily try 1000 times in a 3 hour period. more accurate if we had 10 people going at it and count 10k times and how many were produced. i believe it is a 1 percent chance but who knows. also with certain dragons it would be impossible to find the chances because there are multiple results, or better yet the magic dragon is considered rare but at one point you would get it every time because it was the only possible outcome. this project is a lost cause unless you were to find the possiblity of getting a common, rare, epic, or ultra rare dragon. it would be impossible to find the odds of each individual dragon especially diamond, as the possibilities of getting other dragons is infinite. unless you find common, rare, epic, and ultra rare in that order you could possibly descover the odds of getting a rare over and ultra rare dragon while breeding diamonds..... which would take well over 10,000 hours and the results would be inconclusive because people could lie or lose count. lol sorry but it is not possible.

Don't know if will even be seen, but just in case. Can anyone tell me if expierence level has anything to do with being able to get the diamond. I have done the whole breeding the same 2 dragons over and over. Having all 4 elements, and I am still having a problem getting one? I was told that a high exp. level matters. The higher you are in the game you are the better. Thank you for any info.

I doubt it helps...I'm L52 and still having zero luck with the dragon. The only way I suspect player level helps is that as you get higher you've made more attempts at breeding, so more chances to get a given dragon.

Lately it seems the higher you level up breeding lower levels dragons have better luck at the dragons you want

So, it's not that bad. Got 2 dragons, I didn't have before (Wild and forestfire) - I like the fact, that you get different dragons each time, and not just the same over and over and over again. Not the last time I've tried this... But for now - WIZARD dragon...

Any good advice for me? Have tried breeding it like a 100 times before - always a coral. That's why I tried the eagle/serpent combo for a change.

It also might help to post if you are on a Droid, IOS, or Kindle. All the Story games are slightly different for different operating systems, and it just might be a difference enough to affect who gets what type on these combinations. Mainly because the "random" number generator seed is going to have slightly higher odds with different operating systems :)

If other people are willing to try Charm and Fire (can't remember which side) that may increase the chances of getting a Titan Dragon significantly. I got two of them trying this combo on my first try in a row!

I agree with this person. I've been having lousy luck with some dragons so I bred a winter dragon and water dragon and got an ice cream dragon on the first try. Only my water was epic. (Side note- also got the hermit cat on first try in monster story with the crab and fire fox).

i have just started breeding a level 10 mermaid dragon and a level 10 planet .. in that order.
1) 15 hours .. Aurora
2) 7 hours .. Forestfire (1st one)
3) 15 hours .. Aurora
4) 21 hours .. most probably a poison :(

will breed them 25 times and post the results here ..
