I had the same problem with the dehydrator so I decided to wait for the food to cook and as soon as it was done, the fly popped up.

As soon as the Candied Lotus Root is ready to serve, it automatically expires? Or did you come back to check after a certain amount of time?

It expired automatically. It happened a couple of times. It's not doing that anymore but I haven't used the dehydrator lately (not risking it)
