View Full Version : Which Tattoo should I get?

I'm leaving Thailand in a couple of years and want to get an elephant tattoo (my second favourite animal). I already have two, a dolphin which is my 1st favourite animal and tweety bird cause my grandmother always asks me when she sees me 'Hows my tweety bird (don't know why but she always asks that). Anyways I want an elephant with the word elephant written in Thai underneath.

I have picked out a couple of pictures but would like help deciding which one or if you want post a picture of an elephant. I might like that one better. Keep in mind the pictures I posted if I choose one of them itll just be a picture of the elephants, not the trees or grass in the picture. Also I'll be getting it done in a much smaller scale than the picture. I don't want a big huge honking one done. My other tattoos are small.

I know some people might not like tattoos but that's not my question. I'm getting one regardless :p

Post number one or number 2 or post your own picture thanks in advance.

I haven't seen number 2 before myself. I was trying to find a picture of an elephant with its trunk up cause Thais consider that lucky but I didn't have any luck finding a nice picture like that.

The pictures turned out smaller than I expected. They are the size I actually want it done in.

I'm looking for more realistic ones. I'm also trying to find a good one of a Thai elephant but haven't liked any I found yet.

I kinda like number 2 better myself as well. I'm still going to browse through more pictures now and then. I'm in no hurry to get it right away. I'll probably wait till the next time I go on vacation by myself. If I go with my parents they'll just try to talk me out of it lol. They hate tattoos. The dolphin one I got when I was in Phuket with my dad. I went out and got it done and when I came back the first thing my dad said "oh my G.. You didn't" (it was covered up with gauze but he guessed what I had done. Not that they have a say in it anyways lol)

I like this one and the tattooist could easily draw in the feet. :-)

It's not a Thai elephant (they have smaller ears) but its not a must that it has to be Thai.

Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions :-)

If the artist is good, they could probably alter the ears, to match Thai ears better :)

Here's one of mine (iPad doesn't have the best camera) Pretty purple and blue moon with a cloud. Yes, I swear that's a cloud - but I can see other objects too ;)

I like it :-) Mine has to be small. I don't handle needles and stuff like that very well. The smaller the tattoo the quicker it'll be. I threw up half way through the dolphin one. Lol you might ask why I put myself through it if I can't handle it very well. I put my self through it cause once it's done I'm happy I did it, even though it's a bit embarrassing. I thought I was going to throw up with the tweety one to (that was my first tattoo) but managed to hold it down. Even getting my ears pierced I had to put my head between my legs right after cause I felt like I was going to pass out.

I don't mind needles at all. That flower one is not small. It took 4 hours. Here's a smaller one:

Definitely get them done where you are not looking at the time. I have 3 on my back, the moon on my ankle, my son's name around my other ankle connected to a previous one, one on my upper chest, and a tiny one on the other side of the moon ankle. I like needles though lol. But if I'm not looking at them while they're getting done, I don't feel them as much. And one positive thing about long times - you start going numb. My son's name took several hours - outline, fill in outline, accent outline 2 times. By the middle of the second time around, I could hardly feel anything.

The outline is worse. But the pain isn't bad compared to other stuff. Wait until you have a baby. With no epidural or drugs, then you can do anything. Like fall down the stairs with a vacuum. Easy peasy.

Exactly! People complain about root canals all the time. I'll take them over childbirth without epis anytime!

It's not the pain., i can handle the pain part. After I threw up with the dolphin tattoo, it still hurt but didn't bother me anymore. It's the thought of needles poking through my skin that makes me squeamish. I can't even watch any doctor show where they are cutting into someone to operate.

Lol... I have five tats, none of which hurt. I also had both my daughters with no epi, no drugs... Although not really by choice. They were both three to four weeks early and by the time I made it to the hospital there wasn't enough time for pain ****ers.

Have any of you guys in the UK seen Frankie cocozza's first audition for 2011's "X Factor"? It's got something to do with tattoos and it's really funny. I would post a video but it's a bit.... Inappropriate. So I will do the mods a favor :p. but really it's kind of funny. The judge says "frankie! What about when you get older and your grandchildren see those "images" on your {}" it's kinda funny.

I wouldn't have the guts to get a tattoo.. EVER. But I like the second picture Sourlicorice posted.

(and yes it wasn't exactly a bad word, but I edited myself just in case)
