If I have 6 springs, when my neighbor request for it and I give him, will my spring will reduce to 5 pieces? I sent him one but my gift still show 6 pieces. Why?

No, you'll still have 6 springs.

Gifting, accepting materials, and tipping do not take items/coins away from your game or cost you anything (except your time).

nmishii is correct. Gifts come from an invisible never ending supply within the game. They aren't taken from what your own supply.
