How to get a gem without buying?

I wonder what if pet shop give a gem for free by completing a goal or colection. Just like bakery story or retaurant story or fashion story... ;)

Well there's one goal that is very simple and gives you 5 gems; I think it has to do with adding friends and putting in a sale sign.

I wish my friend never got me to play this game. Everything I have requers gems & oooop's you lose out cas they dn't offer a chance of getting what's needed. ����

I was able to do a lot of tasks without gems, but you are right... I will never complete the "ribbit" task, because you have to buy the border collies and breed a whole family to earn the tree frog (which cross breeeds with bull dog). The border collie is the one that seems the most unreasonable. At 149 gems for EACH, that would cost almost $100 to breed a whole family! Ugh. They should add a way to earn gems. I agree!
