How do you get stars on your profile?

Sometimes when I visit the community or neighbors I see they have a certain amount of stars (the pink ones). How do you get more stars? A few days ago I had 2 stars on my profile and now I have 0. What happened? I'm on Level 38 with 18 neighbors.

The pink stars are called your star rating and that is determined by how often you visit your neighbors and give them a thumbs up for their merchandise in the store. The star rating will go down over time so be sure to keep going back to your neighbors.

You can also increase your star rating by visiting random players from the Community wall in the game.
