Hey guys, mixing it up a bit. I went back and pulled the most popular theme from the March 7th Poll.

Victorian/English Tea Room

Lets give the developers some items for this theme. Pictures are also great to add!

Recipes, decorations, etc.

These items will be on the BS poll in 2 weeks.

Tea carts with scones and jam and clotted cream on them. Three tiered platters with finger sandwiches, scones, and desserts. Rack with tins of tea leaves for customers to choose their flavor. Tea chests. Fancier china cupboard than the Tea Cupboard that is in the Tea and Cake box, one where you can see Victorian patterned china on the shelves.

Recipes:
Chicken salad sandwiches
Cucumber sandwiches
Salmon sandwiches
Egg salad sandwiches
Scones with jam and clotted cream
Variety of teas: Darjeeling, Assam, oolong, white, green, rooibos, masala chai, etc
Fruit platters
Plates with a variety of desserts on it like those found in High Tea such as truffles, fancy chocolates, fruit dipped in chocolate, lemon cookies, petit fours, cream tarts, etc

In traditional High Tea there is usually a three tiered platter with sandwiches on one tier, scones/jam/cream on one tier and the above mentioned dessert morsels on the third tier. The sandwiches are cut into triangles with the crusts removed.

Lemon tarts
Tea set or china display cupboards.
I would like to see some NICE dividers after the removal of the heart dividers.. those were the nicest at one point. Maybe make them delicate looking (lacey dividers?)

I would like to request that there not be an over abundance of pink decor. I'm so tired of pink everything in Bakery Story.

Yes to the lace (especially lace dividers!), but I've really had it with the pink explosions, too. (Middle ground: I wish I'd bought more of the Valentine's wallpaper with the white doily-type hearts on it while I could.)

Do you mean the rose one on page 1 of this thread? I did a google image search and its called "Blooming Rose Wall Clock". You can search for it yourself and pick who you want to buy it from. :)

There will be plenty of themes where pinks and reds aren't the main colors. It's kinda strange to think of a Victorian tea room without pink or red : ) Summer themes, luxury themes, & parlor themes have deep colors. I think the dog bed was cute along with most of the decorations and food!

Gold would look nice as would a gold and red teapot. Most English Tea Rooms have pink.

This will work in any bakery with any color. And, if you redecorate and change the color of your bakery, this will still look good.... this thing is gorgeous, I wonder what it sold for...

Antique blue, silver and bone chine make me think more of Victorian Tea Rooms...and of course lace doilies and such. Pink has it's place here and there, but I don't believe this theme has to be deluged with it.

I beg you to please consider this when constructing a Victorian Tea Room theme.

Victorian is NOT pink.

Interior Victorian Colors Used
Interior colors were typically the traditional earth tones often in deeper hues of red, amber, emerald, and dark brown. Drama was part of the effect by using different rich deep colors so each room felt important.

Victorians implemented the use of complementary colors (opposite colors on the color wheel) to further enhance the dramatic interiors.

Wallpapers - Often vibrant floral and paisley patterns were used.
Upholstery and draperies - These velvet, silk, damask, and tapestry fabrics came in rich and deep reds, greens and browns, blues, mauves, and purples.
Rugs - Often large floral patterns in oversized styles gracing hardwood floors.
Tassels - Found as fringe and swags on draperies, tablecloths, and chairs. These always complemented or matched the fabric. It was common to find two or three colors in a tassel.
Lace - White was the most popular choice for tablecloths, although many other choices were used. The layering effect of lace and other fabrics was also used. Lace curtain were used in the Spring and Summer but replaced by heavy draperies, often made from velvet for the colder seasons.

Most Victorian rooms I've seen are white with pink/red floral designs. The flowers are pink, red, and yellow. The floral designs have green leaves usually on a white background. I haven't seen any blue Victorian tea rooms or any that are brown/purple toned. You dress up usually with hats and it's an occasion. If your wanting other colors- you are choosing the wrong theme to argue for them in

EricasYummys,

I apologize if I offended you. I didn't mean to. I only wanted to share an interesting fact about traditional Victorian style. The tea rooms you are describing have Victorian influence... They have lace and floral patterns and carved details. But they are modern interpretations.. not true Victorian decor.

I realize no one but me is interested in the history of interior design... I studied it. I didn't write the post above... I copied it from a website about Victorian design. The color schemes described above are correct. The funny thing is ... I personally don't like earth tones. I like jewel tones. I don't want to make an arguement, I just thought the article was interesting.

In reality it doesn't matter what is correct, only what TL feels will make their customers happy.

Wow, I found something really special and I wanted to share it.... This is a picture of the Blue Drawing room at Woburn Abby in Bedford, England. This is THE room where the very first tea was served. It was during the Victorian period. Tea was "invented" by Anna Russel the 7th duchess of Bedford.

This room is gorgeous! Please, can i have that wallpaper and a teapot that looks like the urns on the fireplace mantel for my bakery! Pretty Please TL... I'll even forgive you for stealing my coins!

Here are a few more items and pictures for the Victorian/English tearoom theme.

1. Picture 1 - antique Victorian teapot (blue and gold) FYI... This is for sale for under $100 !
2. Picture 2 - chair (carved, oval back, damask upholstery, dark mahogany wood)
3. Picture 2 - table (round top, three legs, claw and ball carved foot, dark mahogany wood)
4. Picture 2 - window (swag and jabot velvet curtains with gold leaf crown molding)
5. Picture 2 - fireplace (white carved marble with oversized, ornate carved mirror in a gold leaf finish)
6. Picture 2 - portraits (carved oval frame with gold leaf finish)
7. Picture 3 - floral pattern for walls or floors

It just won't be Victorian if it doesn't have floral or damask pattern walls or floors. I would love to see some deep tone floral carpet!!! Maybe in gold and tan. The mahogany wood is also a must... It's not my personal favorite... But if it's painted wood it's a country or shabby chic style, it wont look Victorian. And we already have the "dainty" chairs in pink and white.

One more request. I am most excited for a teapot... But please give us a BIG teapot. The oriental teapot had teacups on the tray... I hated it because it was so tiny.

I was thinking of a tea display and maybe a Victorian time square sort of grandfather clock.
For recipes:
Cucumber sandwiches
Petite fours such as mini strawberry shortcakes or red velvet whoopie pies
Macarons!!
Garden sort of tables with the umbrella sticking out
Any other delicate items for a typical "English tea"

Thank you for this. I couldnt agree more. If its going to be a Victorian Tea Party, then this is what it needs to be. If its going to be all pink and cutsie then it's just a tea party.
