General Information about special boxes (thank you MiniLaura):

Each time you open a box it costs 24 gems.
When you buy a box, you will get ONE random item from the box. You have a 54% chance of getting a 4th prize, 35% chance of getting a 3rd prize, 10% chance of getting a 2nd prize, and 1% chance of getting the first prize.

If you buy multiple boxes, you may get duplicate items. Your chances do not change if you open subsequent boxes. (So if you open 99 boxes without getting a 1st prize that DOES NOT mean that you WILL get the 1st prize item on the next box. You still have only a 1% chance of getting the 1st prize item.)

It is not possible to exchange unwanted prizes from the box for something else.

If you sell your prize, you will not get your gems back. You will get a small amount of coins depending on which prize you sell.

If you purchase special boxes accidently, Team Lava will not reimburse you for it.

The first time was intentional and I got the Milk Bucket, but when I went to get out of it I hit "Buy again" instead of the X. *face palm*. I love that little cottage, I'm just too small of a farm for it yet. hahaha

I was actually going for the mill (yeah right) or the bridge (again yeah right), but I'm very happy with the cottage as I've seen it on others farms and it looks so adorable. I now have 3 houses and only enough space for 1, gotta keep popping out these strawberries so I can expand, again. :p

I think TL is lulling me into a false sense of security getting good things with these boxes, as I never have this kind of luck. They did it with the collectibles, as I now have in the buried treasure category, 67 of the arrow heads, 28 of the gold lump, nothing of the third, and 11 of the gold coin. Too bad I can't sell off these arrow heads. :)

I really wanted the bridge, mill, or king's feast but it doesn't look like I'm going to get them. It was worth a shot though! The Pigpen and Patio Table were what I was trying for in the other 2, but ah well. Enough gems spent eh? :p

Now I have 5 houses for my farm, including the goal one, now to just get a bigger farm to place them all. hahahahha

Here's a moose for ya! As soon as he saw me coming out my door he ran, but then stopped in front of the neighbors house so I was able to get a pic. I wanted to get closer, as this was my older camera that didn't zoom as well, but I was afraid he'd take off before I could get a pic of him. He does still come around about once a year, and last year he had a friend with him, but my newer camera was buried in the closet and I didn't have time to get it before they had "moved on". :(

I really want the Villa, Cozy Bungalow and Victorian Manor equally (so I want more prizes from the Summer Surprise), but the summer surprise has more prizes that I wouldn't be happy with if I got (Pigpen, Tractor Sign, I Love Mom Sign :p), and I'd be more tolerant if I got the other prizes from Discovery Chest...

I've been meaning to ask you if it would be possible to update the first post to include information next to things like the animals/trees/plants that are offered in the box as to which you get coins back from, but don't want to create too much work for you. For instance, the Donkey gives 33 coins every 20 hours, but the Bonsai plant is just decoration. So, for the things that DO give coins back, could we list next to them the amount of coins/hrs? At least for the ones that are known?

It took me 16 summer baskets to get the moose, and I only got two "I love mom" signs, thankfully.
If it were me, and I wanted the bridge, I'd keep trying. It's a very nice bridge.

I got the spring garden chest and got the flower windmill which I was happy with, but then I made the mistake of buying the summer surprise box and received the skunk. It's cute don't me wrong but I was hoping for something else so I bought the same box again and received another skunk. I know it's the risk you take when buying a box of getting duplicates so I'm not gonna act like I didn't know I just don't think I'll be trying that box again. I wish teamlava would make a box of just houses , you know with varying sizes and styles/colors. I think it's something everyone would love and at least you know you'd be getting a house.

I love your "nice and mostly accurate" list of items in the special treasure boxes for Farm Story. I refer to it a lot. However; recently I am only getting just the list...no pictures. I am playing on a kindle fire. Did something happen to the pictures??

I got the spring garden chest and got the flower windmill which I was happy with, but then I made the mistake of buying the summer surprise box and received the skunk. It's cute don't me wrong but I was hoping for something else so I bought the same box again and received another skunk. I know it's the risk you take when buying a box of getting duplicates so I'm not gonna act like I didn't know I just don't think I'll be trying that box again. I wish teamlava would make a box of just houses , you know with varying sizes and styles/colors. I think it's something everyone would love and at least you know you'd be getting a house.

I'm able to see pictures from iOS devices and my computer. Not sure why you can't view them.

You cannot buy this from the store. It is the first prize from the adventure chest. When you purchase the adventure chest for 24 gems you will get one RANDOM item from it. You only have about a 1% chance of getting the first place prize.

No. Anyone who buys the chest can get the lagoon, but each person has only a small chance to get it.

To buy a chest, go to the store and select "enhancements." The chests that are available for purchase are there. Just tap the one you want. Be aware that your gems will be spent as soon as you tap the chest.

When you buy a box for 24 gems, you will only recieve one random item.

You can't see before you buy. It's like buying a scratch off lottery ticket--sometimes you get a nice prize and most times you get a dud. Look at earlier threads to see the odds. Buying more boxes does not change your odds.
