Hey guys. I am thinking about getting a puppy.

What kind do you think I should get?
(Please post pictures along with your suggestion)

I have a black American cocker spaniel, female, called symphony. She is not too small, not too big, loves children, hardly ever barks, cuddly, affectionate. She is well behaved, despite no training. Very cute, would highly recommend.

Get an Australian Shepherd. They're easy to train and lovable. They make anyone look like a good dog trainer, and that's the kind of dog you need if you're a first time dog-owner :)

Yes but require tons of activity to keep from destroying things, dogs with a lot of energy need more exercise to keep them from getting bored and you sane

One of my cats is named Kiwi. She was a kitten when I rescued her from a so-called rescue foundation. :p Poor thing was not being taken care of; she had fleas, ticks, ear mites and ringworm. They were not giving her anything for this except 1/12 of an adult dose of flea medicine. The ringworm made her fur look brown and patchy and she had these big green eyes... Thus Kiwi. turns out once I got the ringworm cleared up, she had a thick coat of fur and is clearly part or mostly Maine Coon. Complete with a goatee and tufts of fur coming out her toes.

I got my 2 cats from a shelter and they were already named so I didn't change them. Tucker, the boy, was only a 7 week old kitten. He looks like a Maine Coon but honestly I have no idea what he is. My husband insists he has some siamese in him, but that is just because he doesn't like the way my husband shaves him and hisses at him a lot. My other cat was almost 2 years old, they weren't sure as she was a stray before coming to the shelter, and her name is FRESCA. There was no way I could change her name as she had been there for 7 months going by that name and was responding to it by the time we got her. I've never had that drink, but now I have a cat named after it. LOL

This is Milo when he was still a baby. He's now 10.

This is my favorite picture of him and one I use to remember when he was like this vs. those times he's been a bad boy.

Like when he gets the "almond roca" from the catbox or has bypassed the security measures we've put in place to prevent him from getting the garbage can from under the kitchen sink and spreading it all over the place while we sleep.

He's very tricky. Don't trust that cute little face one single bit.

A couple weeks. You can also try a different material. Nylon, leather, patent leather, no metal. Nylon seems to be the least irritating.

He will be susceptible to parvovirus until 5 to 6 months of age. He can still get it after that but its not as fatal. Until then do NOT take him to off leash areas with lots of other dogs. Walking around your neighborhood and stuff like that is fine.

I worked 5 years doing animal care at the humane society. Parvo was so expensive and hard to treat that any dog testing positive and the 2 dogs kenneled on either side of him were euthanized, even if they didn't test positive. That was rough.

You know those little ties that they put on bread bags and etc??? My cat Fresca loves to find those and pick them up in her mouth, bring it to her food bowl, and drop it in. She doesn't eat it, just puts it in the bowl. It drives my other cat Tucker nuts as he refuses to eat out of the bowl if there is one in there. I think that's why she does it, but they share a 2-sided bowl and she'll hoard the food by putting those in each side to keep him from eating anything. LOL

My dog, before he passed away, would eat the boys little action figures. One time he even ate a cap from a bleach bottle that my neighbor had out to fill with water for when they closed their pool. Somehow it ended up in our yard, which is fenced in, and he ate it. We had to take him to the vet to have it removed via surgery along with part of his intestines. He almost died that night and had to stay in the animal hospital for 5 days so they could get him stabilized. I still miss that dog. :(

My ex has a yorkie. She's adorable. I dog-sit her sometimes. My cats are bigger than her, so they don't mind.... too much.
I miss my Rhodesian Ridgeback though. She was beautiful and really calm and friendly. Once she grew out of the chewing everything in sight stage, anyway.

My big dog was a catahoula leopard dog. He never chewed anything. He was never bad. But the chiweeny more then made up for that. My big dog used to act "sorry" when the little dog was bad.

At the humane society we used to get shipments of stray caught dogs from up north in the Yukon and territories. My Mom adopted one. These dogs had never been on a leash. Never seen a ball. Never walked on smooth flooring such as tile, hardwood, lino, and never seen stairs. It was hilarious showing them how to walk on lino without slipping and wiping out.

There were no stairs at the shelter so Caliber (my Moms adopted baby) was a stair virgin when I first brought him home. Keep in mind these were all adult huskies over a year old. I took him out to the back yard on the deck and I went down the stairs. He followed, wiped out, and slid all the way down the stairs ON HIS BACK. I've never seen anything like it. I almost peed my pants.

That's exacly what my husband said. His sister had a siamese cat that scratched his doberman when they were kids, and the doberman ran off whining. LMAO!!!!!

That is why he insists my cat Tucker is part siamese, he says he acts just like his sister's siamese cat did. I told him Tucker just doesn't like him. :p

I still think Phoenix just didn't care one way or the other about them, as he did growl and bark at cats that came into our yard, just not the ones in the house. LOL!!!

The dog my mom adopted and all the other Yukon huskies I fostered had never seen a cat either. When they first got to my house they used to run all goofy at my cats like "what on earth is that?!" And my kitties (who are used to dogs) would just be like "oh god another stupid dog". My kitties would let the dogs sniff them or poke them a few times then one smack and BAM, the cat is the boss.

Beau can never be let off the leash. It's the huskie in him. Once he got away and stole the neighbors chicken. Poor chicken! We brought the chicken back to her in a box. She was real sweet about it and wouldn't except any money. Then we bought a rooster and kept him in a big cage in our house. To teach beau that chickens are our friends. His name was Stew. One day we went swimming and came back to find ourselves knee deep in feathers. In walks Beau with red war paint on his cheeks. He got both latches open. Poor stew!

Now that mad me laugh out loud!
My Maine Coon is mouser, except we don't have mice much, so she brings in lizards all summer. Poor, tailless lizards -- they shed their tails to get away, she doesnt bite them off. Of course, they don't get away either.

I'm sad to say my cats are not just ****ers, they are torturers. :( The mice they catch they actually bat around and torture the poor things that when I catch them doing it, I have to brave getting scratched and possibly bitten to get the mouse away from them. I then give it to my husband to **** quickly as there is no saving the poor things most of the time and I hate to see them having a slow and painful death. I think out of the 15-20 they've caught over the years I was able to get to 1 before they did enough damage that he was able to be saved.

"Out pet stain remover" or similar product containing enzymes and some latex gloves will make life with Bruno pleasant. I love that stuff.
You can cut a slit in a tennis ball. Slip a dog treat inside. Toss the ball and Bruno will have to return the ball to your hand to get the treat out. When you are done playing fetch, put the ball in a safe place until you are ready to play fetch again. It won't be long before Bruno is fetching your slippers!

ha ha. My cat puked on the carpet today too! Never ever on the linoleum. I paid one of my kids to clean it up. I wish I knew what is causing it. I've been using warm water to make her food and mixing it with a half a can of canned food. Maybe I should give less food 3x per day.

How old is your cat??? I was having problems with my old man( 11 year old boxer). He would throw up his food. When I had them at the vet, I found out he has acid reflux.. I have been giving him
a pepcid once a day, and he has stopped. Go figure!!!

also for dogs (not for cats)- Bufferin acts like moraphine to a dog- pain reliever
Pepto bismol, you can use for upset tummies
Benadryl you can use for allergies.
