Gifting

This is probably a really silly question but I've been trying to work it out. When someone gifts you plates... where do the plates go? Where do you get the plates from or do they just automatically appear?

I'm new to the game and trying to feel everything out. I still can't work out why it wont let me expand even though I have got the right amount of friends!

to get your gifts click the main menu then my gifts they are in there.....as for the expansion you gotta have the right ammount of neighbors as well as coins....many people think its a choice but the neighbors thing is more like a prerequesite
