I believe 18 is the max appliances you can have out at any one time, unless you buy additional appliances with gems
( I am not sure if android has the option to buy additional appliances yet)

kooky - Android received the option to buy additional appliances on the 12/19 release (v1.3). When the Holiday Drink Machines were released on 12/23, the option went away due to a bug. It is fixed in v1.3.2. This is one bug I wish they hadn't fixed.
