New gifts missing?

I have version 1.4 and am an IOS user. I have both the Candy cane maker and Marzipan maker. How do I gift my Nbrs with the requested sugar, flour eggs, etc? I can't find them. None appear on my list of available items to gift. And the same issue in RS with the new items...

I think nbrs have to make a request for sugar etc, then we have to send back the items requested.

How do u send the items if they r not in my gift list to pick from? I have tried just clicking the accept button beside each request I receive but my NB's r not getting the sugar eggs rosemary etc in both my BS and RS.

I cannot gift sugar either... I don't even understand how to request it either or what it is used for?

You have to request them via Goals, by accepting your neighbours' requests in your "news" section under "messages", you have gifted them.
