How to gift new items

I got the new update and really like it, but how do you give your fellow neighbors the new items that you need to complete the missions? For an example: Chicken and applewood chips. These items aren't showing up as an option when I try and give my neighbors a gift?!

Your neighbors have to request it from you - it can't be sent as a gift. You'll get the request like any parts request.
