Why does new food given at a new level not show?

Why when I get given new food when I reach a new level does it not show on the food I can choose to cook?

Because you don't have the correct appliance. For example, you need an oven to cook cupcakes and a grill to cook cheeseburgers.

If the game tells you that you have too many appliances and that you've got to wait to the next check point level for a new appliance, then you can either wait to level up or put one of your current stoves in storage and buy an oven or grill.

However, there's currently a bug with the storage so you might wish to be careful; read more about it in the other posts about this bug.
