Money amount going down and i'm not spending

Hi i'm playing on I-phone 4gs running 1.3.2. My money was on 170,000 when I left my game, I returned after a few hours and had earnt ?20,000 yet my anount showed ?148,000! it keeps going down or staying the same even though I have sold items and earnt money. I have not purchased anything other than stock to sell. Please help
