All of a sudden, the SD card cannot be found by my phone. Do they go bad?

When this happened to me I took out the sd card and battery, waited a minute, put back in sd card, then battery, then turned back on. It was ok after that. I'm HTC desire

Try going to one of your phone service provider's stores that has a tech center. You might have to wait awhile, but they should be able to help.

Sorry my suggestion is about as "techy" as I get.

My Micro SD Card disassociates from my phone all the time. I generally have to just restart my device and it'll read again.

Don't think SD Cards "go bad", though I suppose if there were a data corruption or if the card was reformatted to a different, non-compatible device, it wouldn't be read in your phone and your data will be lost (speaking as a bit of a novice here, so take with a grain of salt).

It'd try removing the MicroSD Card, inserting it into a MicroSD-to-SD adapter, plugging that into your computer (assuming it has an SD slot), and seeing how it reads. Or, if you lost non-critical data, just buy another one. You can buy a MicroSDHC card on the cheap online.

You can buy micro SD cards almost anywhere. Even Walmart has them. Way cheaper then the phone carrier store.
