When posting on a neighbours wall, how do you get those fancy characters? I use and ipod touch, is it simply brackets around letters etc?

It's not free. You have either download char map or the emoj plus which are both chargable

Emoji, at least, IS free. The most popular app to unlock it is even called Emoji Free, look it up and make sure that you do not pay for what is essentially a code to tell your iPod Touch/Phone to use a separate Japanese character set that is already part of the firmware.

Glyphs and Unicode apps may cost a little but only those with enhanced functions, there are free (if basic) versions of these as well if you look for them.

There are 6000 different "Emoji" on iTunes most of them are FREE some are at $1.19 or higher do not be fooled the FREE ones are the same as the ones that are $$$$$$$ after you download it head in to ur settings then go to language then the option chinese or japinese and tick the box to enable Emoji.

Each one might be different but the instructions are clear on the ap when you download what to do but if you ask me Emoji are the same deal as the guys and gals with neon lights under there cars... All show but really pointless.
