Why are Gifts received from Neighbors now only "1 Plate?" etc.

Gifts received have been "50" plates of Chicken, "100" plates of this, "200" plates of that and now we only get "1" plate of food???

What's the point of receiving and selling one plate or giving this meager item to friends? and why the change?
