I love party rock anthem lol. It's not my usual taste (I'm more into MGMT type) but it has a catchy beat. The rest of those I can do without. Interesting thread idea :)

I don't think I keep up with the UK charts, let alone the US one! Most of the music I like is all 80s stuff anyway. Not sure why, as I grew up in the 90s...

So, what was meant was current top songs - be a short thread :)

In 2004 the mag Rolling Stone compiled a list of a top 100 - supposedly ever. The 5 were -

1 "Like A Rolling Stone" Bob Dylan United States 1965 Rock, folk rock
2 "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" The Rolling Stones United Kingdom 1965 Rock, hard rock
3 "Imagine" John Lennon United Kingdom 1971 Rock
4 "What's Going On" Marvin Gaye United States 1971 Soul
5 "Respect" Aretha Franklin United States 1967 Soul

Curiously, when they repeated the exercise in 2010, the results showed the top 25 from 2004 totally unchanged.
