Store emptying

I am curious as to why in the Fashion Story, if i open the door to the store to let customers in, and i then log out.....no matter how long i am gone..1 minute to several hours.....when i log back in, my store is wiped out. The other "Story" games allow customers to walk in and it takes time to empty...whatever i am selling. I am not the only one with this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.
