Team Lava IRL

This is mogwai4111's Event Suggestion, and we'll run it for one week to start. Maybe more for other games. We'll also have another event concurrent in Facebook.


Moderator starts out by selecting a dish from restaurant story or bakery story, or an animal exhibit from zoo story. Forum members must cook the dish at home, go out and order it from a restaurant, or go to the zoo and find the specific exhibit, then take a picture of it (just the dish, not you eating it, or you hi-fiving a grizzly bear) and post it here at the forum. To ensure originality, you must include the letters "TL" in the picture some how, whether drawn on a napkin by your plate, arranged with utensils, on a piece of paper held in view of the camera, etc, but no photoshopping the letters in.


Sounds good to me! Here's a recap of the rules:

1) Cook any of the Stove items in Restaurant Story IN REAL LIFE.

2) Take a picture of your cooked dish WITH the letters TL written out somewhere. Like it says above... you can have your utensils spell it out, you could spell it out with your food, you could write the letters on a paper or napkin and put it in the picture... it has to be obvious that you created the dish, and for this contest.

3) Embed this picture in this thread using a service like photobucket.com or imageshack.us; you can paste the [img] code directly into your post to have it displayed in the forums.

4) One entry per user!

5) No new submissions at noon PDT on Monday, Aug. 22.

I'm looking forward to all of your submissions! We'll randomly select three users (who meet all the guidelines) and they will get 50 Gems each. Same goes for Facebook (I'll post a separate thread for those rules, but you are allowed to compete in both).

It's stove items only, no "baking" (although in real life some of the stove items can be made in an oven). so make sure you don't make one of the oven items in RS. Consider yourself warned :)

You can use the same in both, though only do so if you don't mind if people know your real life name as associated with your forum handle (since people could conceivably compare the two). I'd recommend two different pictures if you're cautious. :)

This brings up an interesting question: Mogwai's rules says that you can just go take a picture of said food item. But it says in the recap that you have to actually 'cook' it. So... should we make the item or just go by way of celshark and order it in a diner ? Are both allowed ? :eek:

Does it have to be edible? Not like... "geez teaspoon! that stuff is so burnt!" but like.... Miniatures? My side hobby has always been making miniature food and animals out of clay and I've been looking for incentive to start making BS and RS miniature dishes. :) If it's allowed, awesome! If not, I understand.

It's any item that you cook on stove (from in the restaurant story game). Mog posted a list of items that are cooked on the Stove.

So... Is this a complete list of what's acceptable for an entry? What about hamburgers, chicken or chicken or salmon or steak? Are any of these acceptable if made on my stove top? Just trying to get more options.

I actually thought it was any appliance in either restaurant or bakery story.....stove, oven, drink machine, etc.... I was thiiiiiiiissssss close to making chocolate chip cookies.

But apparently, it is only dishes that are available to be cooked on the stove appliance in restaurant story. The list of dishes that are cooked on the stove appliance in restaurant story is listed in a previous post. I don't think that means you have to cook it on YOUR stove and prove it. You can cook any of the listed items any way you like.

As for whether or not we can order the dish and post it, it is apparent this can be done, since someone ordered French toast and posted a pic with the tips meant for the delivery man! GM said it the idea executed correctly. However, that would make me sad, because the idea is to actually COOK the meal yourself and post a picture of it. However some people are useless in the kitchen, so who cares if it's edible. Make it, take a pic, then toss it....just a suggestion!

Clarification would be appreciated, though.

I'm not trying to give anyone a hard time, but GM disqualified a few due to not following the rules, yet at the same time, allowed another entry that also didn't follow the rules. So if I put out all the ingredients I will use, and take a picture of them NOT COOKED, then I can still win?

If the selection is random, why is there an assumption and subsequent GM confirmation that the winners will be those that cooked their meal?

I am still trying to determine if the food must be cooked or not.

Oh...and it took me a bit to figure it out, but after into photobucket app...go to downloads, select your pic, while in the pic you want, then hit the small "i". I get a pop up that allows me to select what type of file I want to copy. I use IMG. Copy and then paste in forum....I think that's right...

Reposting this because pictures disappeared in a previous post (I accidentally deleted the photobucket pic album.)

This is my Facebook entry. I had some trouble trying to post a pic on FB. However, i i posted entry anyway on FB but pics may not be visible on there. I'm posting this here on forum just in case.

It's a combo...dinner and dessert entry.
