Do you still get mastery points for cooking dishes? It doesn't look like I'm getting any, maybe its the cost of not having to prepare.

You do still get mastery points for cooking on the easy ovens. Most of the ovens I have out for the blueberry cake are the EO's. You will get 1 free gem when you complete level 2 on any item and again on completion of level 4.
