not receiving updates to complete tasks

around a week and a half ago i got the update that i can now get the ice cream maker. someone in my family also got this but did not get the new thing where you can complete tasks to get coins and xp points. there are no updates available for me. how come i did not get this update. i would like something different to do on the game too.
