Levels of cooking in bakery story

Hi. I'm having to build up a new story for my daughter because I lost her old stories on her old ipod touch. I notice that unlike my iphone 3gs i can't gain points by baking or brewing each thing. There are no 4 star levels. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

The mastery levels are unlocked at around level 10
