Stars - do I clik or not

when i water crops a star appears, it deducts 1 coin, than when i click on the star it adds 1 coin but i have noticed that this doesn't affect my total coins before or after i click on the star SO... do we have to clik on the stars at all?

When you water and the star appears it shouldn't be deducting anything except how many watering you have left. You get 10 per neighbor and 5 per community member every day.
The red star that you see doesn't need to be touched as it will automatically add to your rating after 5 seconds or so. You can collect it yourself if you are in a hurry but that requires more tapping. That rating bar at the bottom shows neighbors and community members if they see you on their community board that you are one who waters. It ranges from 0-4.
