Similar to the Cookbooks in Restaurant and Bakery Story, this week, I'd like to make a user-created City Story Travel Guide!

Basically, we want to know what your favorite travel destination is, and why you love (or would love) to go there. Or, if you live in a happenin' spot, what's the best place to visit in your hometown?

Feel free to include pictures, quotes from a travel website, or whatever you'd like.
At the end of the week, I'll randomly assign 20 Gems to one of the users who helps develop our TeamLava/City Story Travel Guide! :D

I have three I really love to go to equally - sorry can't pick just one as they are all in my top destination spot.

Rainbow Falls, Mammoth Lakes, CA - so pretty and a nice hike to get there.

Morrow Bay, CA and Lake Mead, Nevada before the water levels were so low. :( But very nice lake to boat/tube/kneeboard/wakeboard/etc. on plus a stop over in Vegas. :D

I was born and raised in Toronto. I have travelled each coast of my country, as well as many places in the USA. Of all the cities I have visited, two standout. One is Calgary, Alberta, the other is Vancouver, British Columbia.

They stand out because of their beauty. Vancouver : It's as though they took a city like Toronto or New York and dropped it into the mountains. The mountains! Clean oceans...whales! Here, let me show you one of Canada's most beautiful places....enjoy!

The best place in Ohio (the state that i live in) is Cedar Point witch is a famous theme park that is home to the second tallest rollercoaster in the world the Top Thrill Dragster. The picture shows a overlook of the theme park

Paris: The Illuminated City
I realized that my answer is so boringly typical, but being that I'm such a food junkie, there's no place better to eat the most amazing pastries and desserts than Paris, France.
Paris is home to the most buttery, rich desserts in the planet. There is no other place where a person can find the world's most perfectly flaky croissant. The layers and layers of croissant falling off of the pastry as you bite into it. Or the most amazing merengue, where the outside is thick and crunchy while the inside is soft and sticky, the way a merengue should be. Or where the baguettes are fresh and warm. The list can just go on forever.
Of course, for those who don't love food as much as I do, though I don't see how food can't be the best thing about a vacation, there are all the sites to see. From the top of the Eiffel Tower, the view just goes on and on. At night, the Tower will basically sparkle, a sight so amazing against a dark sky. There is the Arc de Triomphe, filled with history and amazing architecture. There is also the Notre Dame, though sadly you won't be seeing Quasimodo ringing the bells.
Well, that's simply a little summary of Paris. It's better to see it in person than hearing, or reading, about it from another person. Enjoy x)

Have you ever wanted to travel to a place known for many activities and great beaches? I suggest Cancun, Mexico (pronounced CAN-COON)! Cancun has some of the best beaches with the beautiful ocean of the Gulf of Mexico. Here, you can bring anyone including your whole family for a reasonable cost. There is something to do for everyone. Here is a list of numerous activities to check out while visiting this historic country.

Visit the Mayan Ruins.
Snorkel & or Scuba Dive.
Learn the Mexican culture.
Tour Isla Mujeres on a catamaran.
Parasail.
Relax at the beach.
Rent boats & jet skies.
Shop in modern malls.

You don't know Spanish? That's a okay here! Workers are required to know 70% English or enough to know what your talking about. Many signs are in English as well. You won't feel home sick as there are many American chains here in some areas including clothes lines and restaurants.

Cancun, Mexico also offers some great weather. During the hottest months (American summer), the average high is 90 while the average high in the American winter is 83. If you hate the cold winter but hate a hot summer, going to Cancun in January is your best bet with an average temperature of 81 (the lowest temperature average).

Cancun also offers some great resorts! I suggest buying a hotel package that is ALL-INCLUSIVE as you will save a lot of money on drinks! Click here (http://www.libertytravel.com/vacations/offers.jsp?i=mx&destCode=CUN&city=Cancun) to go to a trusted travel website for pricing.

Here are some pictures of the area, beaches, and some resorts! Enjoy!

Overall, this place is one of my favorite places to visit. There is so much activity and you won't be bored. The ocean color is amazing (aqua) and makes an average beach/ocean look like pond water! The workers there are a lot of fun and are very nice. It's really an awesome experience to talk to them and hear how they grew up and what there culture is like as it is totally different from us who have not been raised in Mexico. This is truly a place you won't forget. Here is a nice video that sums up what I have said.

What comes to mind when you think of Seoul?

Korean people may think of Seoul, N Tower, City Hall, Gyeongbok***g (Palace), Namdaemun, Gwanghwamun, Cheongwadae (the President?s House), Myeongdong, Dongdaemun and the Cheonggye Stream.
Meanwhile, foreigners may think of kimchi, hospitality, shopping, bulgogi (marinaded and grilled beef), the ?88 Olympics, dramas, how busy the city is, Namsan (Mt.), N Seoul Tower and the 2002 World Cup.

Now then, why don?t we get started and immerse ourselves in Seoul?s true charm?
Haechi, the mascot of Seoul, will lead you everywhere you need to go with firsthand information.

In 1934, during the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeongbok Palace was established during the war in which Korea as a nation was robbed of their sovereignty and suffered greatly. As a result of the war, much of the palace was reduced, but Geunjeong Hall (or ?Throne Hall?), Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, Hyangwon Pavilion, and other great buildings were left standing and are currently under reconstruction today.
In addition to Gyeongbok Palace being an establishment of traditional Korean architecture, the palace also offers tourists the Palace Museum, an opportunity to watch the ?Changing of the Guard Ceremony? and many other interesting attractions.

The palace guards have such a solemn look in their eyes. It almost seems like they?re not even breathing, and with their lack of expression, they seem a little scary. Every tourist should take a picture with one of these guys.
Among the guards you?ll find at Gyeongbok Palace, the highest-ranking guard is wearing red armor.
The Joseon Dynasty?s ?Changing of the Guard Ceremony? starts at 10 am and finishes at 3 pm, and the ceremony is demonstrated on the hour every hour (except when the palace is closed or when it?s raining) in front of the open plaza inside Gyeongbok Palace at Heungnye gate. Time to watch the ceremony!!

On weekends and holidays, in front of the National Folk Museum there are traditional games to be played. In addition, you can participate in various programs, such as making vertical bamboo flutes, masks and other crafts. There?s also a tree where you can write a wish on a piece of paper and hang it (called a ?hanging wish?), and you can also experience various folk events where participation is free.

I hope you have the opportunity to experience Korea?s traditional culture!!

my favorite place in the world is not a city, not a village but it's one house, a gasstation and a little church, it's called Solitaire in Namibia. It's really beautifull there, it's in the neighbourhood of the famous Namib dessert, and in Solitaire you can eat delicious applepie695

Lake Norman in North Carolina is one of the best vacation destinations to go to because it is a nice lake that is warm so you can get used to the water quickly. There is also so much to do and see around the lake that you probably won't even leave a scratch on any of the tourist attractions in one trip. You can go on water rides, see racecars race, and so much more. Everything at Lake Norman.

Orlando for the kids... Typhoon lagoon was the most fun we ever had as a family. Maine for the incredible lobster!!! But no matter where we go, we will always have our heart in San Francisco!

The awesome "surf-able" waves at Typhoon Lagoon:

The winner of this week's contest is: hoinghoing! Read this awesome posting of a Seoul travel guide!
I've personally always wanted to visit South Korea, so this was extra cool for me to read. :) But everyone had really cool entries!

Hoinghoing, let me know via PM (just so I don't miss it) which game you'd like the Gems or CC in, and I'll assign them. And thanks again to everyone who played!
