Farm Expansion Question

I just started playing last week, and have one question. I am currently level 17 and have the required level and amount of neighbors to expand to 16x16. I'm getting close to having the money. The thing is, my farm is only 13x13. My question is: Can I skip expanding to 14x14 and 15x15 and go directly to 16x16? This would save 250,000. Or do I have to buy each expansion in order?

Well then i guess I'll be expanding to 14x14 shortly instead of saving another $100k for 16x16. Thank you
