How to get rid of annoying notifications

Not sure what they're called, but how can I get rid of those notifications that want me to: Join Facebook, buy two candelabras, a marble column, cook two stews...? I have done a few as asked, but I simply do NOT have the gems to opt out, do NOT have the any where close to the money to purchase (and if I did would rather use on something more practical), do NOT have the appliance space to cook for two days at this point and CAN'T STAND going on Facebook. Any advice? Will they ever go away? I'm trying to be a good player, but this is impossble at this point. Thanks!

Let me rephrase that to clarify: I LOVE the opportunities, but hate the fact that I can not use them at the level I am at and don't see the opportunity in any near future! I would rather have options that are obtainable to me. Instead, do I really have to look at these for a long time?... still will never do Facebook! Thanks!
