Trying to collect tour money from my asparagus (which is still 1 day away from harvest ready) and I get the Max Food 10000 error message.

That's because 9980 + 605 > 10000.

It's because it thinks you're trying to harvest.
Just collect from your hot dog stand or anything that can be collected from and then start to collect tour money.
