I had an existing one real close to the edge , it summoned the book when I chopped but the book is out of range to expand too. I guess I need a support ticket because I can?t hit the book .

I received them and then the game crashed and they're gone. Bigger issue is I placed the writing desk, game crashed and it's gone. Only option is to purchase for gems. I've force shut at least 10 times. I've submitted a ticket.

You get dwarf hats from sparkling mines and chin hairs from farmhouses. Someone above said some specialty pigs drop things. I am not sure what a feasting pig looks like.

That's a good question. In the past, we could purchase another one for 65 gems, but here, market doesn't have it.

Follow the goal book. I would advice to grow some trees, several dozen would be best. Also have herd of pigs. You can start crafting the items as you open goals, but if you are low level, it will take a while to open the goals and the crafts. But craft a soon as you can what can be crafted.

In goal 10 you start the book crafting. Until then its mainly gathering as many items as you can, the math table from Shibuya tells you how many you need. Since the drop rate for enchanted texts is really low (until now i got 1 per collection) it means collecting 7 times per day for 13 days so it will be slow going

Indeed it will be hard, if you managed to harvest 7x a day you finish crafting the last page at the very end of the event. So it is necessary to harvest every 2 hours 7x a day for 14 days to make it!

I do agree. I woke up this morning with wizard school energy plus 40, chopped 3 trees, visited all my farmhouses, all I got were fangbeasts. It?s very depressing. The 2 hr writing desk collection I can handle but when you can?t get the books to trigger it?s really frustrating. I?d love the prize, but so tempted to quit now and continue with other timed goals. Tried again just now, same 40 energy plus wizard schools, 4 trees and farmhouses, 3 fangbeasts and finally a book. Please tell me there?s a better way.

You are indeed correct about the dwarven hats which dropped from sparkling mines early on, stopped and then mines start dropping them again in goal 9.

And yes, the little library in goal 9 will spawn the ephemeral tome, 12 hits, drops inky goo for the fairytale page craft in the forge. Make sure there are no monsters on the board but if you forget, only 1h to wait. Main holdup in this goal is collecting 8 dwarven hats from the sparkling mines, not guaranteed drop. Inky goo is also not a guaranteed drop after defeating the ephemeral tome and I was surprised that there were no ancient fables dropping.

Latest spawns of ephemeral tome are dropping ancient fables now but inky goo still a random drop.

Now I’m upset, visited mines, got a hat and a golden nugget and a I was about to tap on the items there was a rollback. Mines not able to be tapped on and no hat or golden nuggets in inventory. This was my third collection from my mines and the first had, which is now lost in the ether somewhere between S8 and my modem.

I also agree with ljb506, that some events make it a chore to play. As much as I love CS the events are becoming too tedious with barely and drops of needed items and volumes needed seem a bit extreme. ‘Sigh’

Ink pot is a rare drop from the monster that spawns from the library.

We only need 6, to be acquired during the time it takes to get 24 hats to randomly drop from the mines; but logging in every hour with no reward is tedious.

To help (every so slightly) with spawning monsters...
After I clear a monster, I tap one other building, wait about 20 seconds, then force-close my game. Wait about 20 seconds and open it again. It feels like it "clears the memory" and I can spawn a new monster in fewer than 2 trees and all my farmhouses! It's a pain in the neck, but so is using all my energy to get no monsters. And yes, I agree; the fangbeasts are really annoying right now =/

I already had 8 when i realized i didnt need that many! Crafting my first fairytale tome now. On the whole the sticky goo would indeed explain the sluggishness of progress of this event

It is taking me more than 24 hours to collect 8 hats. If I am lucky, it will be 4.5 days to collect the 24 hats.

After 48 hours I had collected 10 hats. So many collections with no drops. At that rate it will be 3 more days for 14 more.
I hope that is what S8 intended, because it doesn't seem possible to do the rest of the goals.

And I did buy the enchanted quill and an extra desk. But that doesn't help.
Not using gems to hurry the mines when I get nothing half the time.

I am usually a very patient person but the drop rate of the hats is dismal. Two days of checking mines every 3 hours and only 1 hat. Almost everything else is crafted but still no hats. At this rate I won't finish and I always finish events with days remaining. Any chance that drop rate can be improved? Pretty please with a dwarven hat on top? ����

Oh thats good to know! I usually park a monster so didnt notice. It will be very helpful cause today i only got 1 dwarf hat out of 5 collections of 2 mines so probably wont get to goal 11 soon :(

it is difficult to trigger these attack boxes sometimes. Be slow and patient, and try to put your finger on the shadow of the spawned monster. If the boxes don't appear right away, just move your finger a little towards the monster and try again. Be slow and do not rush it, otherwise you will run the risk of wasting gems...

Make sure you have zoomed in as far as you can on your device to make the area as big as possible. The monster should be activate right on the border of the locked land it's spawned on. There will be one place you will be able to find to activate the attacking boxes.

Please be mindful that you are not allowed to discuss any communication with support here on the forum. If you absolutely cannot access the spawned monster, that's what you should ask Support to help you with, but again you cannot post how they have or haven't been able to help you. Good luck!

Instead of waiting the full 3 hours for my mines to be ready, I log in every 2.5 hours and use a gem to speed up the final half hour of the timer. By doing this I get more chances for hats per day and the gems I'm spending are pretty much earned back throughout daily playing between my gem droppers and adventures so I feel it's a good use of them, for me personally.

Doing this, I'm currently crafting my 5th Fairytale Tome right now and I'm so glad I did get extra FTs. It's a super long slog to get enough Inky Pages just for ONE Ephemeral Page - so far, I've crafted one each day which is nuts for how often I'm logging in and slaying ETs.

Yeap but I cannot log in each 1 hour! Now the spawns from the tomes are very low, but I manage to craft 1 Page a day. 5 pages to go. Not speaking about the Enchanted Text, 5 pages to go...

I am getting this too ... not so much that I cannot click on it, but that the attack boxes show up & promptly disappear. I've gotten good at a nanosecond delay tap with my finger hovering over the attack button & hitting a nanosecond after I tap the monster. I've tried all kinds of other things (force quits, phone reboots, etc).

I need help plzI was a little baffled too at first when the inky goo was so slow to drop. But just keep on doing what you're doing and you'll get more goo than you could possibly use. And keep hitting the sparkling mines as often as you can. After getting the 3 Fairytale Tomes, it gets a little easier, but definitely still a challenge.

:D i finally got my final dwarfhats by tapping at times i wasnt supposed to (visiting friends, during fancy dinner and middle of the night, LOL) so crafting and then its setting timers a few days. Thanks for the tip about crafting extra fairytale tomes, i thought it had a cap of three! Hopefully the droprate of the hats will grant me another tome, then it should be possible to finish with a few hours to spare. And the tip about the speeding up of mines: since its difficult to play on the phone with lags and rollbacks i often fall into the gemtrap there, especially during monster hunts (the popup where instead of hitting the monster you immediately buy extra energy when it tells you you are out), so thats not an option, unfortunately.
Still loving the game, but this challenge is way too challenging!

The Inky Page comes from defeating Ephemeral Tomes - which guaranteed spawn from the Little Library (and also sometimes Fairytale Tomes).
They will not start dropping the Inky Pages until you’ve crafted three Fairytale Tomes and are on Goal 11.

You need to have no other monsters on the board as the library spawns ephemeral book, which drops the pages you need.

I agree, it looks so tiny I think S8 made a mistake here. We can barely see the books next to it.
It would make sense if the size of these books be the same as those next to the Bookworm.
A library with a size similar to a spire would look better in my opinion :)

That's weird, I don't think that's supposed to happen. Mine never disappeared and I crafted one of each of the others before I made even my first Fairytale Tome. The others disappeared but not the FT, that one remained.

I guess its cause i had already upgraded the library to lvl 7. So if you want more fairytale tomes, dont upgrade to lvl 7 until youre done crafting

Totally understandable, especially after this one - it was maybe the most OTT event I can recall in my CS playing. I thought the Little Pig event type was as bad as it could get but this one was a new level.

I've taken a few breaks over the last few years (ranging from a few weeks to a few months) when the game just became too much. At first, I was worried I might miss out on great items but with the way sales are now, it's not really an issue.

Our real life health, happiness and wellbeing is the most important thing. Your presence will be missed but the game and this community will be here waiting if/when your enthusiasm for the game returns.

Rest well and enjoy the extra free time :D

An hourly timer is crippling me too. Being constantly distracted by a timer when I'm in 'the zone' of working is a little bit challenging! I've skipped a few events recently for the very first time just so that things don't get too overwhelming for me. I have a flourishing Queendom already and I don't want to lose the enjoyment I get from playing CS. I think it's very healthy to be selective about events. :love_heart:

For me it was the other way round: spawnrate of ephemeral tomes was suddenly through the roof, as was the droprate from dwarf hats. Collected my third fairytale tome saturday morning and finished the event just now (tuesday morning) with a total of SIX fairytale tomes! I had about 2-3 spawns from 5 tomes each collection. Maybe its cause i didnt make any ephimeral pages until i collected about enough inky pages… on my first account the drop rate lowered after making the first page. Or its just bad luck and luck

The Mysterious Printing Press reorders the Tomes.
The last of the four Tomes is the Ephemeral Tome and when you go to craft it, it is to the immediate right of the Fairytale Tome and not the farthest right tile as it starts out.

I’m a bit bummed about this event. I don’t need the prizes, but I wanted the bookworm. I haven’t been able to log in every hour/2 hours due to my schedule. Drops from the mines for the dwarf hats has been abysmal, and the drops from the desk weren’t much better. (I didn’t realize I would truly need to buy a second one) There’s no way even by gemming to speed up collection times (which I’ve already done to get to this point), that I will get the last 5 ephemeral pages I need before the event ends. For me there I don’t see a way to finish this event without spending a lot of gems. A cute prize isn’t worth it at this point. It’s the first time I haven’t finished in a very long time. I will likely sit out a few future events unless they look FUN. Grinding away at an event while waiting for several items to be ready to collect which all seemed to have low collection rates is not fun.

I'm also unhappy with this event. As a long time player, I usually have few difficulties to finish most events and I'm used to spend gems, from time to time, to finish some, especially those that I choose to play more relaxed. This one is the most stressful event that I recall. I started with a delay of 2 days and had to spend (so far) 110 gems to speedup collection times from the mines and the Little Library. I'm now close to start crafting the 3rd Ephemeral Page and, with 5 Fairytale Tomes and the available time I'll have to play, for the 1st time I'm not sure I'm going to finish it without having to spend more gems. Hat drops from the mines are ridiculously low. Fairytale Tomes don't spawn Ephemeral Tomes most of the time. S8 this is not the way. I'm pretty sure that most players here are grown up people with families, jobs and responsabilities. We can't play 24 hours and setting 1 hour timers is very stressful to me. I love this game since I started playing it in 2012, but this starts to take off the fun. Not only we're starting to have more than 1 event at the same time, as they are becoming more and more undoable without spending €. Please have more consideration in the future. But overall, thank you for all the work and dedication!

That's a good point and I can agree that super hard goals don't make me want to spend but rather make me want to walk away and take another break from the game.

If I'm being charitable, I would say they're doing it to try and make sure even the highest level player is still engaged. I support the idea of keeping everyone engaged but not like this. I feel like making events so time and energy consuming that everyone struggles is the wrong way to encourage engagement - all it does is take away from the enjoyment of the game and burn players out quicker.

In my opinion, the right way to do it is by added extra or bonus content for those long timers who regularly finish high level/harder events early.... which they've done by introducing the weekly recurrence of Madame Makeda. To me, that whole storyline is content specifically aimed at players who have extra time and energy who can focus on it like when they finish events early.

If they've already added extra/bonus content to keep high level players engaged then it feels really pointless to also keep raising the time and energy requirements for events. I've been playing for years, have a huge energy stockpile and am overcapped on nearly every item in my inventory and yet I struggle to finish events. That seems concerning and every time I struggle with an event, I always wonder how the newer players can possibly finish fairly. As a long time player, I'm really happy with the addition of Makeda but didn't have a free minute last week to even think about it because I was so focused on trying to finish the event. I love CS but the way it's been going over the last year, it's really difficult to like it and want to log in every day when I get stressed just thinking about what I have to do to finish an event!

Basically, my point is that if they're adding extra events to keep players entertained then they should go back to events that are absolutely able to be finished without having to buy extra items, value packs, energy, etc. That way, all players who put in a reasonable amount of daily playing can finish the events and those of us who have built up our realms can finish early and play the extra events to our enjoyment.

I made it with about 22 hours to spare, and I spent much of the last two days collecting. If I had other things I needed to be doing, not sure I would have succeeded. I doubt I?ll keep the bookworm or any tomes other than the Fairytale Tomes out; I can get the same idrops from multiple other objects. Probably park the Fairytales somewhere on the edge.

Just now i read the last few pages of the similar thread: i should have done that first and then skipped this event! Well next time its reading about the old event first i guess, to save me the stress. Two normal days of regular life now, only logging in to send a gift i think

I'm gutted I won't be able to finish the event ivys hut was no problem but the hats from the mine were terrible no hats dropped for 1 1/2 days from my mines and I was collecting every 3 hours so I've only got 3 pink books. If the inky pages dropped when the blue books started spawning I would have no problem finishing but I've only got 17 hours and I need 6 of the final books. It seems more and more the events are getting impossible to finish due to terrible drop rates.

I was able to fully upgrade my little library and finish the event late last night. My first drop from the level 7 little library was a BF for earth wisp and 3 trade tickets. My first drop from the bookworm was 1330 coins and maybe a BF for something I missed. I’ll have to get back to you all on that one.

I agree with everyone that this event was tough and tedious. I’ve recently come back from a looong break and events like this get to be too much. I dug the artwork, which is why I decided to play this event. My one request to S8 would be to make the Fairytale Tomes just deco items with no yellow arrow above them. They only drop a few coins after the event and I’d rather just see their artwork without the arrow getting in the way.

Oh, the first page saif the fairytale tomes should drop jewels, lumin essence, silver ore, water; its why i crafted them! Can that be fixed?

Little Library gave me one trade ticket and 15 coins. Bookworm black flagged me for Glimmerdust and gave 1345 coins.

Re the Fairytale Tomes, they won’t start dropping ongoing items until after the event ends. Check again after 6:00 pm PDT tonight.

I don?t see a way to finish which is a bummer. I had really low drop rate on hats so I paid a lotta gems to get the Fairytale tomes, but the spawn rate from them is really low for me. There?s no way to get enough inky pages other than to buy them outright.

I didn?t spend any gems on the last several events and finished with time to spare.

I don?t mind spending some real world cash for gems, but I think for me, I don?t want to spend more than 200 gems on an event. I know others spend a lot more. But I think I?m an average person.

So, I?m thinking that spending gems for an event is not something I?m going to do anymore. If I?m dropping that many gems and still don?t finish?.. no. For what it?s worth, Storm8.

Unfortunately there's no way for me to finish. Really tough with multiple choke points in this event. Normally it's just Ivy or the Troll Camp but this time with the unending battles for the one page that you needed 6 of, Ivy's drop, and then the red hats barely dropping from the mine it was an impossible task. I'm not sure why they made this one so difficult. One choke point is hard enough but 3 made it impossible. I spent so much time and energy growing and chopping trees. It took usually 3-4 trees to get the book to spawn. I'm bummed because I put a lot into this event.

My level 6 library seems to be deco now. No timer on it. The shop where we crafted the tomes also seems to be deco now. I missed collecting my 4th pink tome before the event ended (it would’ve been ready moments afterward), and it’s been locked away in the now-deco craft shop. I was 3 pages short of upgrading the library, mainly due to lack of dwarf hat drops to create the pink tomes followed by the lack of ephemeral tome spawns. I did spend gems on this event, but I wasn’t interested in spending hundreds of them to finish. The three optional tomes I was able to craft seem to drop mainly bone, simple glue, or glimmer dust. Those tomes will be stored soon because I have other things that drop those items.

I didn't see a coin count during construction, so perhaps it will be deco. To double check, store it and bring it back out.

For Level 7, the timer has been changed again. It is now 12 hours.

I barely finished the library.
Used gems to speed the library; in the process hit a gem trap, and loss 20 gems.— for a total of 50 gems.
Also my book for epheral tome? ended seconds before event, however, the game restarted, and I loss the book.

My hurdle was the pigs—- I had 4, but the hairs were hard.

My first collection from the Little Library included a Golden Nugget, at least one trade ticket, and 2 earth wisps. Maybe black flagged for something else. Pretty darn good!

Well, to me, this has been the most expensive event to finish. I was almost giving up, for the 1st time. But since I already had worked so much to get to where I was, so close to finish, I decided to finish it by any means. By that I mean 300 gems, lol, with 170 alone for the last Ephemeral Page. I know that spending gems is my own decision, as it's not "officially" required to finish an event. But, comparing with other events where I also spent gems, this one was an abysmal difference. Spending 25 gems for one Ivy's Hut related material is one thing. Having to spend 170 gems is another. But again, that was my own decision.

That being said, I suppose my complaints will probably start to fade considering the final prize. The 12 hour timer was a nice surprise to me! I thought it would be 22 hour like most of the other similar items. And reading here some of the drops starts to convince me that I took the right decision and probably all that hard work was worth it. Still not sure about the stress lol.

I was unable to finish this event. It was going to be tight anyway (travel schedule) so I gave up with 6 days to go. I needed 3 more hats from my sparkling mines. After 4 collections from both mines (so 8) I didn't receive any hats. There was no way to finish the event if I wasn't going to be able to make my third fairy tale tome.

It really seems to me that S8 needs to go back to the days when they used to post a poll after events to see how players felt about the events, prizes, etc. Of course there will always be those who are unsatisfied and those who are happy with an event, but it seems like there was a lot of discontent around this event in particular, and people don't seem too enthused about the newest event, either. Maybe S8 needs to gather some player input.

You might still be able to upgrade, if you have the materials. Else you need to use gems.

My level 6 little library is now deco with no option to upgrade even with gems. Very disappointing as I was unable to finish the event.
