Materials in storage - how to get out to use?

I accepted several material gift to have on hand for when I wanted tp build but now that I am building I cannot use my materials in storage. When I tap it just tells me that "these materials are used for storage" duh. Can I not store materials? Do they need to be received and used right Away? And if that is so, how do I delete them from my storage if they are useless there?

The materials in storage are actually set aside for your buildings. If you click on your incomplete building you will see a fraction next to your materials list. This means you already have some in storage and need more. EG 2/5 gloves means you have 2 gloves and need 3 more. You don't need to bring them out of storage ... when you have enough (as I think you already know) you will be able to click 'build' once you tap on your building and all of those items will then disappear from your storage.
