Monster Hunt & Leaderboard Information

The following notes have been generally consistent from season to season.

* Check you can spawn monsters!
* Pink Skunkupines don't drop tokens when you defeat them. They might spawn from pink and wedding alicorns.
* Gem horses may not spawn glimmer trolls.
* Trolls may be included but they change from being included season to season.
* Monsters also drop their normal items in addition to the tokens.
* Do the Bronze Hunter Trade if you are nearly maxed on Shield tokens so that they don't go to waste.
* A Level 5 Jousting Arena will spawn a monster on every collection. Link to Jousting Arena Renovations (https://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?83751-Castle-Story-08-06-Update-Jousting-Arena-Renovations-(levels-4-amp-5)) thread.
* The Mythic Research Center (from L22) crafts are available to craft anytime if you have the tokens.
* If it's your first Monster Hunt, the new trades might appear after you do 1 of any trade in the Trade Wagon.
* Remember to collect from Princess Lorelei's fountain for a chance at gold tokens (about a 1 in 3 drop rate)

* BLUE DIRE BOARS will only spawn once a day.

4. Jousting arena (level five guaranteed monster spawn)

I am quite happy with another Monster Hunt. Actually, it is probably my favorite aspect of Castle Story.

The Leaderboard part I just ignore. I always end up somewhere in "Rank 7-12" and it does not bother me. It's all about crafting, as far as I am concerned.

Just wish Storm8 would leave Bronze, Silver and Gold trades available between Hunts.

More information on the Untamed Alicolt would be very helpful. There has to be a reason that it costs 99 Troll tokens to craft!?

At first I was thinking it was a daily and was thinking I could craft two Armored Fangbeasts for 80 Troll tokens and they each
dropped 5 energy a day on average that would net us 70 energy a week for 80 Troll tokens and yes 40 Golden apples.
If the Alicolt is a weekly we would only get 40 energy a week for 99 Troll tokens so that doesn't seem like such a good deal.

I see that in the inventory guide that description under Alicolt says the collection time is 8 hours so maybe it's energy every 8 hours??

That's normal, sometimes crafts 'gray out' and sometimes they disappear.
I wish it was more consistent..

The Wizard's Portals are very very good. They give 4 energy every 5 hours, but you can upgrade them with Golden Troll Tokens so they drop 8 energy every 5 hours. I believe it's another 90 Golden Troll Tokens to completely upgrade 1 Wizard's Portal to the max.

The Mythic Research Center is terrific, and you'll want it anyway, sooner or later. But it does not give you anything when you build it.
It's a place where you can build creatures, but they all cost Golden Troll Tokens (and other stuff) to craft.
You can craft daily and weekly energy droppers, and lots of other things. Check out this thread for more info :

Unicorns drop all four types of tokens, but not at every collection, and not all at the same rate. Not surprisingly, Golden Troll tokens are the least common.

I?ve been gone from Castle for awhile and have mainly played Farm Story, but I?m back now and really enjoying the game again. It seems though from reading the forum that many ppl are not fans of the leaderboard. Same as on Farm Story. I actually like the leaderboard though and here there?s a twist on it compared to Farm, plus I am way behind in the whole MRC thing even though I?m at level 50 lol. On Farm Story, if you play it right and use gems for the leaderboard you can do well. I guess it?s a time-pressure thing though on both games because if you slack on even just one day you get too far behind to catch up. I usually decide ahead of time if I want the prize bad enough to push it to the max to win, otherwise I just go at a leisurely pace and not worry. Just play the game to play. Obviously S8 has chosen to have events only using a certain few ways like Leaderboard and probably choose the way that creates the most demand for gem purchase. Apparently leaderboard events on both Castle and Farm generate better gem sales. Leaderboard events are generally the only time I purchase gems, so maybe more players purchase during this time as well. This is just my theory anyway.

I know, the chests are terrible.
The key is not to expect anything from them. (goes for adventure prizes too, just don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed)

My sentiments exactly. I don?t like the whole leaderboard thing. It goes against the lovely community in Castle Story to have 20 players going after 2 places. I can?t use any crowns, I already have 46 walkers, I would have to put away 17 to add just 1. Please make scrolls more available. I did craft a mini Alicorn, he does not look like the Alicolt I already had?no wings. He is cute but I did not need another weekly. My 8 years of playing has earned me more than enough energy producers and now I am just looking to expand and add things that fit the decor of my realm. I will go for the 3 gold tokens, but I am not pushed to replenish my supply of them. For the very first time, I find myself reluctant to even play. I love this game. It has seen me through some pretty rough times and we are all experiencing some tough going with the present world conditions. Obviously the Monster Hunt can be a fun way to add stuff but to link it with an unfair competition really spoils it. I really like the one that allowed us to get past prizes with special tokens. To those of you who like this event?enjoy. I am looking forward to the next NON Leaderboard Event.

When first released, "there was mistakingly no limit placed on the Glimmer Alicorn craft"- I found the official notice (https://forums.storm8.com/showthread.php?90861-Castle-Story-The-Trade-Wagon-crafts-and-out-of-season-information) for you, simple google search. 😊

It's no longer possible to craft multiple, "only one as originally intended." I'm so glad for those who were lucky enough to 100% legitimately craft a few while possible! ❤️

deleting your game will not fix counter issues. Reinstalling only helps with graphics issues, nothing else. There shouldn't be any reason why it's not letting you reload. Pop into the app store and it should have the download button or GET button. Perhaps it's a timing thing. Maybe restart your device again (turn it off and back on again), make sure you've force closed all your other apps. Let us know how you get on.

G'day,I've had this issue with other games I deleted. Go to your apps store,click on the 'purchased' icon at the bottom. It should show the games you've purchased. Ones you've deleted will have a cloud with a blue arrow inside it. Click on that and it should reinstall. Good luck����

The should be an unlimited amount people we can put out since we have so many crowns. We need scrolls I love the monster hunt. It's Consistent easy ' full of lots ox good things to craft. The one thing that makes it hard in the completion is the neighbors with hundreds of alicorns. That kind of puts things at A disadvantage ≠ wish they would * do the love shack again for those who started later I started with 3 days left and wasn't aware of what was going on being New to the game. So I don't try to beat everyone due to that reason tower I like the New animals that drop energy+ tokens plus -this event does cost us money to play. When they first came out you could make an unlimited amount. I have A on my first account like 6 then we could have 4 then 1 they started putting limits on how many you could craft. Witch is stupid in my OPION because of decorating reasons + we earn the tokens one thing-I noticed was some animas are impossible to get until you really don't need them any more plus they do not drop what is promised in the beginning. Or very rarely dropped as advertised

This game glitch has been a problem from the start. It won't ever be solved because S8 has never and will never acknowledge that the fault lies with them. It's always our fault somehow. When we find a way to take advantage of it and use it to our advantage then it will finally, miraculously be fixed.
My advice is to slowly build up your energy supply. There are crafts in the mythic research centre for energy dropping beasts and buildings. Get as many of them as you can. This will take you some time so be patient.
Try to make it through as many events that award energy dropping beasts.
Do as many adventures and trades that award gems and save them up for sales. But as many energy dropping beasts as you can during sales.
Then set all your daily energy droppers to collect at the same time every day. And all your weeklies for the same day and time as well.
you can store up energy so that when it gets swiped during a glitch it won't irk you as much. You'll also have more energy to play monster hunts!

I have been watching the counter and I don’t think I got credit.Bought two of the value packs. Used 180 of the points for items and it didn’t register that I was any closer to the person ahead of me. Was fighting a golem and got 4 points and then 6 and only registered 2! Anybody else notice this?

This game glitch has been a problem from the start. It won't ever be solved because S8 has never and will never acknowledge that the fault lies with them. It's always our fault somehow. When we find a way to take advantage of it and use it to our advantage then it will finally, miraculously be fixed.
My advice is to slowly build up your energy supply. There are crafts in the mythic research centre for energy dropping beasts and buildings. Get as many of them as you can. This will take you some time so be patient.
Try to make it through as many events that award energy dropping beasts.
Do as many adventures and trades that award gems and save them up for sales. But as many energy dropping beasts as you can during sales.
Then set all your daily energy droppers to collect at the same time every day. And all your weeklies for the same day and time as well.
you can store up energy so that when it gets swiped during a glitch it won't irk you as much. You'll also have more energy to play monster hunts!

I think this will be the first event I haven't finished because I am annoyed it's only one quest away from the last one and the rewards are meh I don't even care if I finish and have been forgetting to even log in.

If the next event doesn't have scrolls or decent prizes I will probably not bother. I have a decent amount of daily and weekly energy droppers from playing pretty much since the beginning but I save them for when I like the event and I usually buy the energy packs.

Please please please please please please fix your reset button in the castle story game. I spawned a glimmer man From a horse and I started I guess around 34 energy and started clicking away and the next thing you know it resets goes back to 34 so OK I’m all right with that but then it resets again and I only have 17 energy instead of 34 this is happened to me over and over and over and over and over again with your little reset but you’re playing a game you reset it and then you take our energy away stop doing that. Please please please please please

It takes some extra loading time, it definitely helps with these glitches. It's a lot less frustrating, maybe you could try it out?

I would keep an eye on your own Points, instead of looking at the difference between your Points and those of the one above you. If they gain Points too, the difference would be off.

About fighting the Golem.. you get 1 Point for every time you hit the Golem. It doesn't matter how many life the Golem loses or what the pop-up 'you received X Points' says.

It’s generally a sync issue (between the servers our games are stored on and our phones) so pretty impossible for Storm8 to fix.

If you have energy stored in abundance, say 10k or more, even 5k, the sting of that lost energy is much less than if you have only the allotted 40.

It?s not impossible. It?s not even close to difficult. There are thousands of games out there that require similar syncing. I play at least two of such games and they don?t have this issue.

But, at least CS only rolls back when it encounters a sync issue. Their other game, DS, crashes AND rolls back.

No, event eligibility isn't linked to device type, it's usually linked to current player level. Different event types require different levels for players to participate so if you're not seeing the current event, it's likely you're not far enough into the game to have unlocked all items needed to access this type of event.

There is an in built delay between deliveries so it is never advisable to run down the clock to drop off your deliveries. So sorry you couldn't get them all in before the clock ran out

I love making S8 cash. Your welcome!.. 2 of my accounts were close then i used some of my point items. Then BAM! Some dude jumps like 1400 points.. ie. Boost.. btw this happened on several accounts. S8 can i get some kickback.. btw allowing to ppl to buy 700 point boost helps you but it makes this LB THING a disgrace to a wonderful,game

Yes this has been known to happen. Player could have bought the 700 point boost last minute (literally) or dropped a few deliveries during the last minute. These last minute deliveries sometimes register in the LB after the clock runs out. Frustrating but part of the game.

This game was created and is designed to make the owners/developers a profit. If players feel like dropping cash to gain an advantage in the game why is that a disgrace?

For the first time EVER I won a LB prize (second place) :eek:
I was truly shocked this morning, other players always catch up with me in the last hours when I'm asleep.

The player who ended first place had 3 Points more than me.. I wish he/she would have settled for shared first place, than number 3 would have gotten an Alicolt too (that's still how it works right?)

I focused al my efforts on Golden Troll Tokens and ended up with 2 extra Armored Fangbeasts. I really love them :love_heart:

Ouch! That's very frustrating, I'm so sorry :(
It would be better if the end result just took longer (giving players a 'processing/loading' message, when some last minute Points have to be taken into account) instead of changing.

No, the other person would still be third.
Only way for the other person to get the Alicot is if all three players finish with the same amount of points or players 2 and 3 have the same number of points.

In the first scenario all players finish in first place and the next person is fourth.

In the second scenario, top scorer is first, and the next two on equal points are in second place. The person after that would be fourth place.

Would be great if a board could co-ordinate so that all 20 players finish with the same points and be placed equal first and everyone receives the price.:)

So, I really wanted the alicolt so really went for it, I was crafting items in the forge constantly, used the hour doubler a couple of times, (saving all my items for those periods), was on every couple of hours during daytime, beating up monsters, drove my family mad, and even though I got 6,729 points I still came 6th!!!! Madness. First place had 15,071 points and second had 9,552 points?!!!!!!!!! HOW?!!!!!

My first has 29,293 and my second has 21,841. Then there are two players with 20k points. They must be mortified, probably went for a last minute spree and ended up 3rd and 4th. I think LB makes S8 quite good money and only those who are willing to invest in buying their points stand a chance (with few exceptions where you just end up in a stingy or poor group). I don't go for the win, but I'll be buying the alicorn once it goes up for sale next year or so. Probably cheaper than investing in buying LB points and most certainly a whole lot less frustration!! :D

I finished the event with 34 Troll tokens and 4 Staff tokens, so even with Beastbane Statue there is no chance of crafting an Armored Fangbeast before next Monster Hunt. However I might have enough tokens for am Armored Black Bear within a week or two. At that point should I get a bear, or save everything for the next MH?

Congratulations on crafting all the unicorn/alicorns on the MRC! That takes quite a few monster hunts.

The answer to your question depends on your kingdom. Would you use the drops for the Armored Black Bear? If you are constantly low on mithril or the other drops, the Bear could be worth it. But if you would be frequently getting a black flag. It is probably better to wait.

I would definitly save them.
The Bears are nice, but the Armored Fangbeasts are one of the best droppers in the game, especially if you?re building up your Energy Droppers.
Remember they have a chance of dropping Tokens outside of Monster Hunts every day. That?s huge.

I agree with Sylvan. I'm always maxed out on Mithril,so my armoured black bear just drops coins for me, really. It drops energy very very rarely. In my case I would save the gold tokens for next monster hunt. But it really depends on where you are in the game and what resources you need right now.

Although that seems like it would be high. For the 14 day events, S8 usually has a $4.99, then a $9.99, and finally a $14.99 package. This was a 7 day with only 2 packs. I was shocked when both packs were $4.99. I took a picture of it, in case it was a mistake. Maybe the person thought it showed $14.99 or assumed it would be that much.

:( i dont mind monster hunts event though I can never get first or second place... but crowns again? We still need academy scrolls and there are no walkers to buy in my town hall (and I hadn?t bought them all)! Plus 99 gold coins for the special Ali corn? It better drop 1000 energy! I?ll still play as it gives me a brain break, but not thrilled with the event.

I?m so frustrated not receiving academy scrolls also!! Why only crowns? I hardly even want the crowns... and no idea about the Ali colt, I?m hoping it?s a daily drop!! Not like the regular Ali corn.
