Hi,

The Watering Hole is a one time use only item from the market.

I also think the one goal has the items you craft and the drop item backwards in the To Do list. It shows the truck as being from the Studio and the tent as being made in the Studio. I read this to mean the truck is a drop item and the tent is made from drop items or items you make in other buildings (such as the Kitchen). When you go to the studio, the truck is what you see as an item to make.

Both of these items are made in the Studio.
You will find the recipes in Post 2 on Page 1 of this thread.

The recipe for the Tent will not appear in the Studio until you complete Goal 6.

The truck recipe is already there and if you click on it in the Studio you will know how many items you have made beings they are invisible when made.

We need a lot of trucks everyone!
Check the recipes some items you can make ahead like the Apple Sugar and the bread.

Watch your newspaper because a lot of LOWER LEVELS sell the event items for coins.
Always check out any farm you buy an item from because they often have other event items for sale.

judyandthecat
07-10-20, 07:12 AM
Try to get through all the goals but number eight then you can make the event items as you find the products.
There are a lot of items to be made.
To receive the pet you have to give 5 trucks and 1 Tent.

You have to make 5 trucks.
Get the recipes open as quickly as possible so you can keep producing the items in the Deep Fryer, Kitchen and the Bakery.

One truck requires the following:
Multiply the items by 5 for 5 trucks.
12 Light Expedition Bag - Deep Fryer
36 pair of Trekking Boots
12 Expedition Hats

5 Medium Expedition Bag - Bakery
30 Trekking Boots
10 Expedition Hats
10 Camera Gear
10 Apple Sugar

2 Heavy Expedition Bag - Kitchen
16 Trekking Boots
6 Expedition Hats
6 Camera Gear
2 Bread

1 Expedition Bag - Kitchen
12 Trekking Boots
6 Expedition Hats
5 Camera Gear
1 Multi Tool

Trekking boots are not a problem, there are tons in the newspaper.
I spend hours in the paper.

Another word of advice.
The new habitat is only available for 12 more days.
The Boabab Habitat.
There is a limit of 4.
I bought all 4 and have them stored in my cellar because I think a lot of pets are going to be using it in future events.

It attracts more kudos for the duration of the event so not one time use.
If you haven't bought Savannah Rains consider doing so.
It is adorable.
Kind of like you have a bad day a little thunder cloud over your head raining on you.

I should just give up now. I took me this long to move on from goal 3 because the Animal Guides aren't dropping. And I'm going to need 48 more just to make the packs needed for 4 more trucks? That's not even counting how many I'll need for all the other components. Unless my drop rate improves, this is going to end up being a whole lot of effort with nothing to show for it.

I'll keep going, but every time these events come up with crazy amounts needed, it becomes harder and harder to feel motivated enough to continue trying.

We have to choose between a decoration and a pet. There is a note at the beginning about that (note #1).
For the pet, you skip goal 8. You visit 20 community farms and give only !!!! 5 expedition trucks and 1 expedition camp tent.

This is harder than I thought.

I'm not interested in getting the kudu pet, only the termite mound. So when and if I can even get it (the mound) I'll stop doing it.

Anyway. I almost have an area for this termite mound ready. Just need to farm more land deeds and I already have it expanded! :) so good.

Though if I cannot manage to get the mound on my own, I'll look into an iTunes card - to gem up the final bits to get it.

You can complete both goals if you are able to craft enough parts to turn in for each goal. Or, in other words, 9 Expedition Trucks and 2 Expedition Tents.

Okay so if I added correctly for the five Expedition trucks for the kudu pet, not including the parts for the 1 tent needed.. You will need

-470 Trekking boots
-170 Expedition hats
-105 Camera gears
-5 Multi tools
-50 Apple sugars
-10 Bread loaves

This is for the 5 expedition trucks only.. Tent parts was not added

While I am not yet on part 7 of this (the part where you get the termite mound)

I am able to collect to get the Camp Lantern and The Expedition Sack already.

I can get my Camp Lantern(s) from the Grapevines

And I can get my Expedition Sack(s) from the Passion Fruit Vines.

--- Anyway.

I almost can craft two of the Expedition Packs, if I can gather 12 hats. But I don't even have 1 of them yet. So it'll be a waiting game to see if the hats pop up in market (the newspaper) due to me not really wanting to buy the Watering Hole.

As at times, I only get 1 hat from buying it, and, I barely have coins (only 3,000 to work with) and they are 500 coins to buy. So I'll wait to see who's selling some in the newspaper.

Anyway. Buying more kudu signs when the gems so on sale. As I was playing to do.

I got roughly 8 or so days to get to part 7, and have part 7 finished, I am not at all worried, yet. So I will wait for hats patiently, until I cannot have patience or the time to, no more.

But I am now done. I am not proceeding the rest of this event - Any and all other items I have for this will get sold. As I now have no uses.

Hopefully the gems go on sale soon, so I can get more kudu signs (for decorative purposes)

I know that some players have had issues collecting the items for this event but I have been lucky. Through the newspaper and with the help of a couple generous neighbors I was able to complete the goal for the kudu. He is super cute! And I love the tree for his habitat. I?ll be selling event items. Good luck everyone. Still lots of time left to complete this event!

While I don?t really care about the kudu and this event, I?m pretty excited that they have allowed us to buy 4 of the new habitats. That?s 12 new African pets across future events! I wonder if one of them is a pet version of the meerkat on the termite mound

I do hope you are right.
A meerkat would be a beautiful addition.
I even went and googled animals of the Savannah.
This new habitat is just so exquisite!

I did also, but so far I've only google the kudu.

A super beautiful animal.

As I actually didn't know much about it before this event happened.

I just got a bit lazy towards the end, and just decided to (since I just bought gems) to gem through the last bit of the goal, for the Savannah Rock decoration. As after writing my other post(s) I realised I wanted it now.

It's not animated, at all. But I knew it wouldn't be - it's just a rock, purely for decorating purposes. I put in near the mine. so far I don't regret it, though next time I will buy the butterfly bushes.

I also bought more kudu signs, and another mole hole. As again, I like how the yellow signs match the hat the mole is wearing.

I am now done entirely with this event - as I am still not going to do the kudu "pet" part.

It goes in the new Baobab Tree habitat.

Now that this event is over, I cannot wait to see what the next one will be about/of! (Hoping they offer an exotic pet or includes one, though!) like a flytrap or seahorse.

Got my Kudu, considered trying for the faux "Pride Rock" but with just over 2 days to try to get enough Camera Gear, that wasn't going to happen. At least I got the Kudu, so I'm happy.

Pros
It was doable. I know I say this every time, but this is an important reality. Way back in time, when we had a bunch of other types of events (World Event, County Fair, etc.), some of the events were extremely difficult to complete unless you either 1) spent a lot of money on gems, or 2) were at so high a level that you could meet the demands of the event. This event (like so many others) was extremely time-consuming and at times quite frustrating, but in the end I could finish it by putting in a lot of time and effort into it. Probably won't be able to do as well next time (when I will likely be back at work), but this time at least it could be done.
Players could help each other. Some events we can, some events we can't...this one, we could. This makes a huge difference in how enjoyable the event experience can be. Being able to ask for assistance here, being able to search the Newspaper and our neighbors' Side Shops...it makes the event difficult, but not frustrating or impossible.
No Leaderboard. Others will likely disagree with me, but I am glad there was not an accompanying Leaderboard event at the same time. This event was difficult enough without the added necessity to acquire Leaderboard points. Instead, I could focus on acquiring what I needed by crafting many more items for plane deliveries than I could do during a Leaderboard event (when I would lose the usage of 5 different machines).

Cons
The Pigs and the Mine...again. Moving on.
The names of things. I'm not sure I understand this logic: Light, Medium, Heavy...and then just Expedition Bag. Light: 3 boots, 1 hat. Medium: 6 boots, 2 hats, 2 cameras. Heavy: 8 boots, 3 hats, 3 cameras. And then just Expedition Bag: 12 boots, 6 hats, 5 cameras. Just off-hand, I'd say the "just Expedition Bag" sounds heavier than the Heavy Expedition Bag. I know this is nit-picking, and I doubt anyone else cares about the logic, but seriously...if the last two names (Heavy Expedition Bag and the just Expedition Bag) had been flipped, it would have made more sense. At any rate, it's a mind-set thing...it will bother some (like me) and not bother others at all.
Drop rates. I guess the drop rates were manageable...but apparently very inconsistent. I was able to get more of what I needed from the Newspaper and Side Shops than I could from my own crafting/collecting/selling activities, which makes me wonder if others were getting better drop rates than I was, or if they have other methods by which to collect so many event items that they could sell so many. I will acknowledge that, in many cases, I was buying from players at lower levels, which to me suggests they were able to do more deliveries than I could (because their orders were limited to what their levels allowed). Which makes sense, I guess. Still, though...judging by my own deliveries, I was receiving 1 Animal Guide per every 5-6 deliveries. That might not sound so bad, except that to accomplish those 5-6 deliveries, I was often discarding 7-16 orders before receiving one I could either send immediately or craft within a reasonable amount of time. The Pigs, of course, were being stingy with the Camera Gear, and there were times when my drop rate was 0/12 over 2-3 collections. I'm just glad I found some in the Newspaper.
The Kudu. It was more noticeable than the Fireflies in the previous event, and larger than the Kitsune in the event before that, but somehow or other the Kudu, when it popped up on my farm, was sometimes overlapping with some of the buildings. Maybe it's because of the size of the animal (maybe not), but just thought I should mention this.

Final Thoughts
Okay, so I'm not as critical as I usually am...that's probably because I'm in a positive mood from being able to successfully complete an event again. I am glad I did not need to divide my focus between two separate events.

Overall rating: 4 out of 5. Mostly because of the Pigs. And the Mine. :p

This is a good analysis. Personally, I also liked that we had the rock prize to work for if we finished the event early. The time between events isn’t too exciting, especially if you finish early so this was a much welcome change. Additionally, people who weren’t able to finish all 5 trucks were at least able to get this decoration prize.
