I like the idea of having a Dragon as a pet but not when it costs $10,00. It would be ok if it were around $1.00 - $2.00 but $10,00 dollars for a virtual dragon is too much.
The current cost is 50 Gems for a Dragon

It's saying something about "unlocking" certain animals while your not that the required level yet.
So am I basically pre ordering a piece of clip art. Weird thing is that, it says it'll become available when you reach the level requirement.
I think its asking if you want to purchase the right to buy a certain animal without the level requirement.

Pandas are one of my favorite animals and I'm very upset about the cost of it, I'm not paying nearly $20 worth of gems for one. I would maybe pay a few bucks, but I have never spent any money are any of the Story games.

When I saw that the dragon, my favourite, was 50 gems... I was like "WHAT THE ......!?!"
This is probably the reason why there was a thread asking for your favourite animal. Then they would know how to price the animals.
And I don't get how you are supposed to earn gems in-game. There is no mastery or anything so how do you even buy the animals. And my 10 starter gems got sucked away by that dumb refill energy button after 20 mins of gameplay.

At risk of being booed out of the forums, I have to say I don't mind the high cost of some items. I'm a task driven kinda person and I would be bored to death if I didn't have something seemingly unattainable to work towards ... that's what gets me hooked. Plus they really need to have something that is somewhat of a reward for those gamers who purchase a lot of gems.
