In order to get ANY prizes this month, you have to throw SNOWBALLS instead of cabbages!
The Cabbage Hut will continue to drop cabbages, not snowballs.
The Baron's Tent will start you with 6 daily snowballs (not cumulative) & show your total number of snowballs, not cabbages. To see your total number of cabbages, look at the snowball craft in your Trade Wagon.
How to get snowballs? ... There are 4 ways:

1. "Trade Up" by converting your cabbages into snowballs in the Trade Wagon.
Two cabbages can be traded for one snowball in 6 hours.

SW here... I'll update this entry as more clarity about this challenge comes to hand. I've asked for the drops for all of the items as well.

So what I can see is that
* You no longer see your cabbages but the tent now shows 6 snowballs in the counter space.
* You can trade your rotten cabbages in the Trade Wagon. trade 2 cabbages for 1 snowball. Takes 6 hours.
* We have 65 days for the Snowball Challenge
* You can buy the Snowball Pile for 30 gems and you chop it in 1 go for 3-7 snowballs.
* The cabbage hut will drop rotten cabbages as normal, but you will only see the total if you look in the trade wagon while this challenge is active.
* You get 6 snowballs a day (how does this work on day 2 if you don't use them)
* Videos drop 2 rotten cabbages, but this is only as iOS feature (if it's like for like)
* You must be on version 2.3+ (you can check this clicking on Menu/FAQ and on the border section lower right hand corner it will give you that info)
* It looks like to get one of the new prizes you need more than 6 snowballs.
* When you watch a video, you actually don't get a snowball, you get 2 cabbages which you can see in the trade wagon.

Love the idea of snowballs instead of cabbage... just tried to watch 3 videos to get more snowballs and didn’t get any though... hope this gets fixed fast... also not loving the 6 hours to trade rotten cabbages for snowballs, too long!

This snow ball idea seems utterly TERRIBLE. To turn our hard efforts to save up cabbages into NOTHING. Trade 2 for 1 - ( HOW IS THAT FAIR) -> in 6 hours!. You need 25 to get one good prize - assuming you have worst luck and have to throw all of them - it makes 150 hours of crafting to get just ONE Grand Prize! And 50 cabbages, which should cost 25 max.

It seems so unfair that we can't use cabbages before those terrible snowballs melt.

not to mention that so far- the videos in tent to get snow balls don't work - you watch the video for ZERO snowballs.

They must be some juicy prizes if the value of the rotten cabbages were just halved. I have enough saved to get 4 prizes in a normal month... but not enough if I have to pay double.

Also, it?s a limited time currency that expires. Trade too many: they go to waste, but don?t trade enough: the 6 hour timer means you may have just wasted any you?ve thrown for a prize.

You kind of have to decide right away if you want to participate. I?m leaning towards no.

I bet the prizes are going to be cute though!

I noticed the 2 for 1 and was hoping it was an error! ... wish all our cabbages were just automatically wrapped in snow!!! ...I also agree with the having to use gems... not very nice....

Cabbages will return in February, and any Cabbages you do not trade for Snowballs will remain in your inventory. You will receive up to 6 Snowballs per day, and receive 2 Cabbages now from watching videos in the tent.

Yes, it is in trade waggon.
Takes 6 hours to craft 2 cabbages into Snowball.

And so far - videos in the tent give ZERO snowballs - this is also a bug ( which they will hopefully fix).

Did anyone get a pop up of the items on offer this month? As angry as I am with this new twist on the tent, I can't help but be curious as to what they're offering.

I also hope that the new monthly pet, the blue Faun looking pet, drops energy unlike the Pumpkin Spice Cow from last month. Since it's essentially going to cost twice as many Cabbages as the other monthly items, I would think it should offer amazing drops.

I love the idea of snowballs instead of cabbages but I?m so annoyed that the cabbages we already have aren?t automatically turned into snowballs. I?ve been hoarding for a long time in anticipation of new prizes, especially holiday-themed ones, and now I either have to spend gems or waste half my cabbages turning them into snowballs with a very long process. Will the same prizes be in the tent until February as well? Given how long it takes to craft snowballs, it would be good to at least know we have a greater chance of a prize reappearing that we have seen and like by the time we have enough. If they change every month, then this is less likely.

Looks like that. So for an average 20 snowballs for a prize we have to buy about 14 snowballs (from 60 to 150 gems for Snow Piles) or convert 26 cabbages (78 hours constant trading every 6 hours). Or combination of these.

You have to trade your cabbages for snowballs at the rate of 2 cabbages for 1 snowball in the Trade Wagon. The trade takes 6 hours. So, you cannot trade enough cabbages to snowballs in the limited time that a prize happens to be in your tent to obtain a prize for snowballs (and no gems) the way we could with our accumulated cabbages.

Same for me (finally enough cabbages for the bigger prize and my hut was bought with gems).

This seems kind of sucky since I?m sure there was an influx of money after Black Friday. Such a blatant punishment to players who have accumulated with the cabbage hut. It just feels bad.

I?ll give S8 the benefit of the doubt and assume that the prizes (many of them) are twice as valuable so they cost twice as much.

I have iOS and the videos only dropped 1 snowball each - which actually took away one of my cabbages for each video.

They're still getting added to your total but instead of seeing your total cabbages in the tent, you can see your total in the Trade Wagon. I was worried about this as well but they are still accumulating - I guess I'll give s8 a half a point for that.

I've literally spent thousands of dollars on this game over the last few years (maxed out on most gem purchases, including weekly Alicorns and have upwards of 150 dailies). I stuck it out through the demise of main story goals and advent of weekly events that have become increasingly more difficult to finish without gemming through (I have a demanding full time job and no time to babysit a game). I rarely complained. But now I feel the game is no longer about enjoyment for the players and more about greed. And that, I will not support. Kudos, Storm 8. You've just lost another one of your most reliable and supportive fans.

I have iOS and the videos only dropped 1 snowball each - which actually took away one of my cabbages for each video.


So what I can see is that
* you no longer see your cabbages but the tent now shows 6 snowballs in the counter space.
* You can trade your rotten cabbages in the Trade Wagon. trade 2 cabbages for (how many snowballs?). Takes 6 hours.
* We have 65 days for the Snowball Challenge
* You can buy the Snowball Pile for 30 gems and you chop it in 1 go for 3-7 snowballs.
* The cabbage hut will drop ?
* you get 6 snowballs a day (how does this work on day 2 if you don't use them)
* Videos drop 2 rotten cabbages, but this is only as iOS feature (if it's like for like)
* You must be on version 2.3+ (you can check this clicking on Menu/FAQ and on the border section lower right hand corner it will give you that info)
* It looks like to get one of the new prizes you need more than 6 snowballs.

I'm on Android 2.3.1 and only once can I recall ever seeing the video option pop up in my Baron tent. It was a regular in Fantasy Story (never in Dragon Story and stopped working in Bakery Story). I've slowly been saving my cabbages after saving up tokens to buy the cabbage hut and there haven't been any prizes I've really been interested in a while. The prizes look neat, but this is so disappointing. I even explained the event to friends that don't play how incredulous I was about the event parameters.

I can confirm:

Once you trade 2 cabbages to snowball- you get just 1 SNOWBALL. Takes six hours to craft.

Nicely put - items in tent will cost TWICE as much as usual and you get the extra pleasure to spend up to 600 hours to craft all of them ( if you want to do it without gems and get a pet animal for getting 4 prizes).

To get 1 Grand Prize - worst case scenario - 50 cabbages turned into 25 snowballs. It takes 25 crafts x6 (hours) = 150 hours of crafting to reduce your beloved cabbages into snowballs. Just to get 1 day's main prize.

If you want to get the pet animal - you need 4 prizes- so 4 x 150 = 600 hours of crafting and 200 cabbages.

Worse- 65 days. It takes 6 hours to craft a snow ball.
Without gems- if you LOVE sleeping anytime during this time - you can't

6 hours craft- max 4 crafts a day. Realistic is 3 trades a day. So - 3 snowballs per day ( if you do 3 trades per day - in 18 hours). 3x65 -> 195 cabbages. ( You need 200 to get 4 prizes)
This means that even if you would do 3 days' per day - you still may not get all 200. ( If anyone is as unlucky to use up all 25 to get main prizes all 4 times).

Put in a ticket with Support, this new software is glitchy. I made snoballs in all 4 accounts' Trade Wagons, but one account didn't add it to the snowball inventory in the Baron's Tent.

I saw videos only after I spent all 6 snoballs, but didn't always get credit(snoballs) for watching them.

Guys, just forget about the cabbage conversion that is nothing but a bucket of squirrels. A distraction to try and make it seem like you can get the prizes without spending money when you really can't.

The new set up is simple if you want a prize it will cost you 180 gems, if you want the grand prize it will cost you 720 gems. You might be able to save a few by buying snow piles assuming you get at least 5 snowballs per pile that is only 7 gems per snowball (otherwise 8.1). If you are a lucky person and it takes less than 25 snowballs per prize then you will save a few gems that way. Just don't look at it as anything other than a purchase or you are chasing squirrels.

I don't know if I will participate or not. I really dislike their dishonesty and this game is getting very expensive. I'm thinking about taking up a cheaper hobby like collecting diamonds or yachts.

Are you kidding me with this snowball fiasco? First, it?s needlessly confusing. Second, I just got my cabbage hut and have saved a measly 55 cabbages. No way am I trading those hard earned cabbages, for half the payoff AND a 6 hour timer??? Holy hell Batman! Third, I have ZERO snowballs and zero videos. I?ve checked all day and no snowballs have appeared in the past 12 hours. And fourth, to add insult to injury, if I even had the videos, you?re gonna give me...cabbages? If someone reports a massive energy dropper or multi trade ticket or expansion permit dropper I might consider using my gems to get it. An alicorn for 180 gems isn't bad.

Ok. I reread your post, and you've got the right version. Maybe contact Support. But don't ask for help for gameplay. It just gives automatic response. I think you select "other". It's been a while since I've done that.

I would wait till you get your free 6 Snowballs. If you collect the one from your Trade Wagon now and then the free ones get added, you'll get a maximum of 6 (so you'll get 5 for free instead of 6, that would be a shame)
If you wait till you have the 6 for free, the one from your Trade Wagon will go 'on top of that' giving you a total of 7 Snowballs.
But I don't know why you haven't got the 6 Free ones yet.. sorrie and good luck!

Edit, You can collect from the Gabbage Huts anytime. They still drop Gabbages and have nothing to do with your Snowballs (except that you can trade 2 Gabbages for 1 Snowball)

I assume the videos work the same in that you only have a certain daily allotment. Any that you use for the cabbage hut CANNOT be used for the general random chance daily videos on the main view. Is this correct?

I can usually get 2-3 gems a day and I?ve gotten 3 alis overall.

Unless you are combining 6 daily snowballs with the video snowballs with your own converted supply, using up the daily videos seems like a waste to me.

As I posted several pages back, this the worst idea S8 has ever come up with. S8 is essentially cutting our buying power in half. I guess it's their way of getting those who've stockpiled Cabbages to use them up.

So I forgot that you have to wait for your cabbages to be low in order to watch videos for more. I was looking for the option and went into the add snowballs screen. I thought maybe I had to scroll down. NOPE. Touching the screen didn't scroll down, but it did cost me 90 gems for a measly 10 snowballs! So I figured well I might as well throw them. I got 5 of the 6 needed items to get the prize. I watched a ton of videos, with no new snowballs. Which is when it hit me - I was earning cabbages, not snowballs, for watching. And guess what? I only have two hours to get the final item to win the prize. So I have just spent 90 gems to earn a rock, block, chicken, and steak. I have to decide whether or not to spend MORE gems to speed up the trade just for a small chance of getting that sixth item, or more gems on more snowballs. Which would feel like rewarding S8 for doing it this way.

I actually was going to post to point out a few positives about this thing: 1. between now and February, you can really stockpile cabbages because you always get 2 instead of 1, and 2. you can throw six snowballs a day without losing any of your cabbage stockpile.

HOWEVER, this six hour timer on the trade is the reason I cannot get this prize, even after both spending gems and watching videos, and that part is AWFUL. What a terrible waste of gems. If it had been cabbages, I at least would have won this weird snowing cloud thing, whatever it is. I realize that this was my mistake for not thinking it through before I started throwing, and I should have waited for the prize to reset. But it is still SO FRUSTRATING. The trade timer makes NO sense!

If I recall correctly, you can watch up to five videos a day (I can't check now, I already watched the max for the day, but I believe it's five). So I could get 10 cabbages for videos and 1 from my hut, for 11 total cabbages a day EVERY DAY for 65 days. That's 715 cabbages I could accumulate by February. Then in February they'll all be returned to the tent. PLUS you get six free throws a day rather than three. So if you don't trade any cabbages for snowballs, you come out WAY ahead in the end.

That can't possibly be true that I could get 700 cabbages out of this deal, is it?

I second this. I stopped trading cabbages for snowballs because 1) one of four of my first trades didn't add a cabbage to inventory and 2) if the videos aren't giving snowballs, I would rather watch them in the main game in hopes of getting an Alicorn.

As I posted several pages back, this the worst idea S8 has ever come up with. S8 is essentially cutting our buying power in half. I guess it's their way of getting those who've stockpiled Cabbages to use them up.

I thought this was Christmas season, but this is more like a GRINCHMAS move.

I am not usually one to complain, but I have been a loyal player of CS for almost 4 years even through all of the event debacles. I have always been supportive of S8, and as you can imagine, I have spent quite a bit of money in the 4 years. For some reason this one really got to me. Maybe because it goes past game-play and into respect.

To charge us to use our own inventory when we already shelled out a ton of gems (IE money) for the cabbage hut to begin with is so disrespectful. Taking a form of currency and making it invalid leaves me, and I can only assume others, feeling like I have been stolen from and like S8 is the thief. Yes, I understand it will become valid again in February, but what about the items we should have had a chance to buy, but missed out on because they decided to change the form of currency? Plus, what is to keep them from doing it again every season effectively changing it permanently - snowballs for winter, Easter egg for spring, beach ball for summer, pumpkin for fall. Always having to trade in what we have earned of one set for the other. Our cabbage hut now obsolete. It is a slippery slope. If snowball trading is a success, they just might try something like this. Then we might be buying seasonal huts that only come out once a year!

I mean most of my other games are giving things to their players, not ripping them off, tricking them, or false advertising to mislead. For example, we can watch a video for a SNOWBALL. I watched 5 videos yesterday and got no snowballs or cabbage. Many others either got no snowballs or they did got cabbage. Cabbage is not the same as snowballs.

This would have been darling if we would have come on to find our cabbage covered in snow and simply converted to snowballs. If they really wanted something new or different they could have possibly done something with the OPTION to convert 2 or 3 into a mega snowball that is guaranteed to hit one of the prize spots. I dont know. They have to be smarter then what they did though. This is just bad business too. You want happy customers. This did not achieve that.

I agree, there's no way to win 4 prizes without gems if you're using only daily snowballs.

Every day you will get six snowballs at a certain appointed time. As Sunnyhook said, they are not cumulative. If you only use two out of the six today then tomorrow you will get only two to increase your snowballs back to six.. If you use four then you will only get four tomorrow to increase the snowballs back to six. The only way you will have the snowballs accumulate past six is if you actually trade cabbages for snowballs in the trade wagon. So if you start out with the free six daily snowballs and you don't use any and then you create 4 snowballs in the wagon, you will end up with 10 snowballs. Tomorrow, though, you will not get six free snowballs unless you throw all 10 snowballs you already have.

If the timer in the Trade Wagon was low enough (say, 1 hour MAX, less time preferable) instead of 6, this wouldn't be insanely horrible. We could get a prize we really wanted if it popped up in the tent; stocking up the max number of snowballs for a daily item would at least be do-able. I would love the snowman that drops deco, but not going to spend time/energy stockpiling snowballs ahead of time in case the item never shows up in my tent! Will we be able to convert snowballs back to cabbages after this ends? I tried to get the Kitsunecorn that showed on one account and spent the 6 daily snowballs, crafted 2, and got Zero snowballs from watching videos. (This was Day 1, before we figured out we got cabbages instead of the stated Snowballs). So IMO I feel "*****ed" out of 4 cabbages, since I couldn't get the prize even though I had plenty of cabbages in that account. And since I crafted snowballs twice before realizing the Videos weren't working, I feel "*****ed" out of cabbages on the other accounts. Unless I get amazingly lucky & am only 1-2 snowballs short of a prize, I won't be crafting more. I would be willing to spend some gems for an item I really want if I Don't ​have enough cabbages, but not when I have over 100!

P.S. And the gem purchase price of Snowballs is about twice of what it takes to get me to spend.

In the Baron's tent, after you've used your daily free 6 showballs. If the button to watch videos doesn't show up immediately, wait until you see the free videos icon on your main screen later in the day and then go to the tent. You can see the number of cabbages increase in the trade wagon 😊

Oh and if you watch the normal videos for items/money/gems, then you won't get the videos for cabbages in the tent, or you can watch a few normal ones and a few cabbage ones

2) bought the snowman that drops Christmas paths. Took/cost me 24 snowballs in total. I really want those Christmas path drops. Nothing else though, and only getting one snowman because of the cost. If it had been a regular tent event, I would be getting as many as possible.

My thanks to all as well for the hints and tips. I too have trouble with the videos. Today, I got no videos offered either in the main game or in Baron's Tent. Yesterday, I did get videos offered in the tent and got cabbages-- yahoo! Previous day, I had videos offered in the tent, but they didn't play no matter what. So it's hit or miss. Ha!

Oh, darn it! You mean it will more than pay for itself with enough drops? Gak! I don't want to be tempted to get another Aspen snowman if it shows up in my tent (and with so many days remaining it is quite likely) because I am still sore about the snowball economy and lack of video loading, plus, that previous wallet-sucking event I couldn't finish. I stock piles cabbages as well and when I watch a movie it gives ZERO.
I did exchange two for one, but that gave me 7 chances but on average I use 20 to win a prize.
So I am out :(

Well I pretty much decided to buy the items I want, though I hate to support this cash grab.

I will say for anyone else doing the same, the snowball piles do not seem to be worth doing. I was hoping to save a little by grabbing those but the drops were too low to continue (one gave 4 and the next 3). Its cheaper to buy the snowballs.

PS. Thanks to every one posting drops for the new items, it helped me decide which ones to go for.

Thank you and AS for posting about the green present skunkupine - it showed up in my tent and due to your posts I bought it. It took 20 snowballs; I use the 6 free ones, buy ten, then one snowball at a time until I get it. Sotoday cost 130 gems for 14 snowballs.

FYI, you may already know. I found out today by accident, that I don't have to buy a snowball before selecting a baron face. I pressed a face and had the option to buy 1, it was slightly faster when buying one at a time rather than bulk.

There was no option for a movie; they loaded yesterday but only yesterday. I am raking up cabbages. Although this is indeed a cash grab event, at least they are providing value. And I am enjoying stocking up on cabbages to be able to go for a tent prize (ie waste them on double items or items I don't want so I can do the tent goal of the month).

It's a daily energy dropper, the lowest I've seen is 4 but it's early days so it very well could be less.

As much as I SO don't approve of or enjoy the cash grab enforced by the 6 hour timer of conversion, insult to injury addition of the halving of cabbage worth.... I really do appreciate the quality of the snowpeeps, tuftkin, and grumpy green skunkupine. Love them. I have bought three items so far - and am sure to purchase more as they come up in the tent. That the final prize is so amazing too is fantastic... seems like a weekly Ali equivalent. I wish we would get another one if we got 4 more prizes from the tent! ; ) I am not doing any snowball conversions - don't have THAT many cabbages - and yet I can also see how for those w hundreds of cabbages it isn't as much of a big deal.

In some ways, this event is leaving me with being veeeeery stingy during the year re baron"s tent use, to save up hundreds and hundreds of cabbages, in case they do this again next year. Not sure that is what S8 is going for, because they would need to increase the value of the tent prizes more often - more alis and energy droppers (prefer alis), more ticket droppers, items that drop awesome stuff like fireflies or the gnome that drops beams and blocks and potions, super cool deco you can't get otherwise (e.g. all the deco droppers from last year's February Valentine event) etc.

So unless it is awesome rather than merely quite appealing, my cabbages stay put from here on in.

PS my math was off, sorry, from earlier post - of COURSE we would need to have 25 crafted snowballs, as the 6 don't accumulate once we start converting the cabbages. So my approach, to avoid cabbage/snowball loss, is:
Claim the 6 free Snowballs
Then craft 16 more - bringing the total up to 22
Then craft a 23rd but don’t collect
Wait for the tent prize you want (I’m waiting for Aspen and Juniper)
Throw the 22 , collect and throw the 23rd if needed , craft and throw 2 more if needed
That should leave 0 Snowballs for the next day - which will top up the 6 free ones again for the next round

If you’re unsure about dipping into your Cabbage stockpile , wait for 3 days (or more! ;) ) to stockpile Snowballs and watch the daily videos for 12cabbages/day , that way you’ll still finish with more Cabbages then when you started.

The tent prizes are awesome and I admit I have spent quite a few gems in the tent this month, but I vouched to spend gems earned only and not bought. The reason is I feel a bit *****ed since I've accumulated so many cabbages and can't really use them. Let's face it, the 6 hour snowball crafting time means I can only get 3 snowballs per day (somehow I can't manage 4 per day), which means I get to throw for a grand prize only once every 6 days. That's assuming that the prize in the tent that day is what I want, which of course never happens. So I decide that whenever I see something I want I'll just get them, supplementing the shortage of snowballs with gems. With the Barron snowman in the tent 5 times already I have only managed to get 3 things. Luckily one of them is Juniper the snow woman. Super happy.

This format really favors kingdom without a source of rotten cabbages, which I'm not against, I'm glad those guys got a chance to win some cool prizes, and a great opportunity to rack up a ton of cabbages.

You can check your total cabbages in the Trade Wagon before and after watching videos just to be sure. So far, every video I've watched has given me two cabbages so I would think it's working for everyone at this point.

Do I watch the regular videos and risk getting nothing too exciting, other than the approx 150 gems (which is a fairly good lure in and of itself) OR do I accumulate a mountain of cabbages (7 months worth, borrowing math from a previous post) with the guarantee of future tent prizes while also knowing that they will calibrate the quality of the tent prizes in the face of everyone?s accumulation (ie less impressive prizes)?

Gambling is just not in my personality so I?ve been going with the practical option of guaranteed cabbages. Am I doing the right thing? The opportunity costs of both options are steep.

I am disappointed that the timer is 6 hours. Why cant we convert cabbages in a day if the prize is something we want? Some months I dont even see the prize I want (like alis the last time they were offered). So I am supposed to make cabbages in the hope that I get a good prize? Will be able to back-convert snoballs, or just lose out if no desired prize shows? Not my idea of fun.

Wish I had even one Ali from the videos. I?ve been watching them everyday and all I get is a gem coins and the odd wooden beam or stone block which I?m maxed on 😭😭 can I have some of your luck please.

Why did they change it to say "snowballs" and then not change it back to "cabbages" when they discovered it was wrong? It's not even only in one place that it says "earn snowballs".

I am a bit confused. Yesterday i’ve got Tuftkin from Baron’s tent, then - while waiting fo the new prize to appear - i crafted two snowballs in the trade wagon. When the tent reset, snowball inventory shows 6 snowballs instead of 8. Looks like snowballs collected when Baron’s tent was in reset mode did not accumulate. Is this known issue or am i doing something wrong?

Next time collect your 6 free snowballs and then collect the ones you craft. In that order.

I'm waiting on Tuftkin too. Got one early on. I hope he's still in there somewhere.
But we still have 40 (plus or minus 1) days yet.
Or maybe something phenomenal in January. Uh. Yea right.

Update: it's been a few days and still not another tuftkin. I have the Present Skunkupine now, but quite frankly have not been to impressed by its drops.
I only need to throw cabbages one more time to get the fawn.
I got the Icy Kitsunicorn for its looks. It black flagged an orange for me. Not impressed.
I wonder if I should get that 2nd Present Skunkupine.

No way to see the total count of cabbages. And no snowball craft. I really wanted to do a snowball craft overnight to bring my snowballs up to 25.
