Hi, everyone,

I have one account level 22 and currently in the step to produce googles, flying machine and flight suits. However, the flight suits have to be produced in the tailor. But I am not able to buy the tailor building, since it isn't show up in the market . I wonder if low-level players like me can finish flight suits without buying the tailor?????? Really want to know the answer, so I can decide to continue or stop doing this time-quest... Thanks a lot

Check your storylines. There is one where you have to purchase goats, once you do that you get access to the tailor building. I did this one when I was very low level, like 11 or so, it's really early.

This seems to happen with a lot of the wall-gate-tower sets, like the haunted series.... I usually have to mask with some trees or other decorations

I find that if I put the gate down first, and then the fence next to it, it works, but not the other way around. You also can't make a fence corner right next to the gate; there has to be at least one straight fence section between the gate and the corner.

In Goal 6, we are directed to build 2 Floating Towers in the industrial workshop. You build them in the regular workshop. It's a mistake in the directions.

However, I just collected from my Sparking Mines and Sawmills anyway and one of each of them spawned a Flying Monkey.

Once defeated, the two Flying Monkeys dropped Nuts and Bolts (“Nuts and Bolts” being one thing dropped together, not two separate things)

Agreed. I don't understand why not limit it to two or three and give it 100% of the time. The random drop of something you NEED is not fun. If it randomly dropped a gold nugget or 20 energy, sure, add that on in! But to create an unknown bottleneck is nothing short of frustrating.

After completing Goal 6, the Congratulations! screen shows the Tower image in the lower corner where it shows what the goal unlocks. We've already unlocked the craft in the workshop so what is it unlocking if not the purchase?

As others have mentioned, this event seems to be a copy of the "Press Your Luck" event earlier this year. I completed that event without spending any real money, and at the time I didn't own any weekly alicorns and just 1 or 2 dailies plus two wizard schools. So I would say that yes, it should be possible for you to complete this event without spending real money.

The Robot Phoenix itself does not drop event items, it's just a booster. Purchasing the pet is meant to increase your odds of getting those drops elsewhere for the duration of the event.

You should be fine leaving the Monkey parked as it is.

Goal 7 is to visit a Sparkling Mine so simply tapping on it will complete the goal. Goal 8 is when you need to slay the Flying Monkey in order to complete the goal. I wouldn't worry too much about it either way, you'll have plenty of time to find a monkey to fight during the goal since the Flying Wings take 2 Hours to craft.

The thing that gets me is that in Goal 8 we're only tasked to craft 3 Flying Wings to complete the goal. But then in Goal 9 we have to craft 2 Flying Pigs which require 4 Flying Wings each. So many Old Gears needed!

You and me, both! I'm on Goal 9 right now and the Old Gears needed is a real stumbling block. I'm tired and was busy at the start of the goal so I wasn't really paying attention to the details of what was needed up until now. Sitting down and really looking at the requirements... it is not painting a pretty picture! Each pig requires a total of 4 Flying Wings made up of 3 of each Industrial craft. That's a total of 48 Old Gears per Pig - 96 in total!

I know that it's very early in the event and that we have plenty of time, but I'm not the type who enjoys a task that gets dragged out unnecessarily. If I don't feel like my time and efforts are moving my progress forward sufficiently, I'll drop this event rather than suffer through the boredom and frustration of waiting for unreliable drops. I don't know if they think putting these awful drops into an event will motivate players to use gems or what but I do know it's having the opposite reaction on me. I'll give it another day or so but if things don't start normalizing with the Gear drops, I'll sit this one out.

And things that drop tickets and permits are always welcome in my queendom but thinking ahead, I don't think I will be able to put in the needed effort to complete. Wow, goal 11 is quite the goal!!! Maybe we shouldn?t post the goals for people to see because I may be out now because of that! Crazy! I can?t get gears to drop either and don?t like this one that much. Especially because the ultimate prizes are usually lackluster. After all of that work, we deserve something big.

We need 261 gears. Assuming I collect 10 times a day (no life, no sleep) I'll need 17.4 DAYS to complete this event. To be honest, I didn't even collect 10 times a day, and I've been logging in constantly.
So if this drop rate is not improved, no one will finish even if they log in every 1.5 hours for the next 2 weeks.

S8, are you even listening? Who programmed this kind of drop rate into a 14 day event?

I'm studying this wondering why I started. With the pigs taking 5 days of solid collecting, will there be time to collect the random Metallic feather drops?

Am I remembering correctly that the monster from the PYL event would sometimes drop more than 1 item?

Also, I'd like to return my floating towers, can they be broken down/recycled so I can get the beams and blocks back ;)

You need 16 canisters to build the beam. If you just cleared 1 oil ore you may not have got 16. You may need to clear at least part of another oil ore.

You make the blocks and beams in the regular workshop, not the industrial workshop we had to buy. Are you using the correct workshop?

My experience getting gears has been okay: always get 2, frequently 3, sometimes 4. This is not my bottleneck, nuts and bolts are, and of course the intense energy requirements for chains and oil. I'm happy for my good luck, recognizing this can change on a dime. I will abandon quest if necessary, but prize is attractive.

This is so monotonous and boring! It's basically a test of who can check their game every 1.5 hours, and nothing else. All it has done is slyly change it down from a 2 hour cycle to a 1.5 hour cycle....for two weeks.

The players spending gems on old gears will finish which is exactly what they want because as your numbers quite clearly show this isn’t feasible otherwise. What a shame too because everything looks so good, the design is great but the drops are more horrendous than usual. I’d rather a longer timer on the robots with a guaranteed drop on each collection. For now I’m going to continue and see how I get on but I’m really not expecting to finish this event.

I decideded to go ahead and get the flying raccoon, and by default, the flying monkey. I had extra gems, and thought the monkey, like the wisps from previous events, might be beneficial and drop event materials (silly me! :rolleyes: ). First collection.....milk and a flag for rat tail. Sigh.

The gears are definitely meant to be the road block. And S8 has gotten all the gems they're getting from me for this one. I am already bored and frustrated on day two. I keep hoping that they will come up with something new and creative (besides the artwork), silly me again. The only consolation is that the gems I did spend are strictly from drops that I've managed to accumulate over months of playing.

I can't recall which events, but there have been a couple where they said "Thanks for playing!" or another pop up message and gifted a bundle that would support the event. For example, if they did it for this event, 20 gears or a few blocks and beams with a note from the Baron saying he stumbled across these and thought they might help us.

I don't think they adjusted actual requirements in the past as there would be people who gemmed ahead to finish and that would be unfair, but they've tossed everyone who was still in progress a bone. I know it's happened more than once that I plugged along and some other folks who bailed wished they'd stayed in the game. I think it's a decent solution to a problem like this (or just fixing drop rates; the random ones are so frustrating. In the future just make it Ivy's hut or an 8 hr timer guarantee) but when it's underway, I think they'd have happier players who are still willing to spend their gems to make it to the end comfortably.

I can only speak for myself but I don't expect s8 to compensate me for taking a day or two off, but an expectation that people will log in every two hours while sleeping is just wrong. The events should be built for max 8 check ins a day. Max. Preferably 6, but I can justify paying 2 or 4 gems to make up for some missed items that I chose not to log in to collect. I don't like feeling forced to because I randomly got 0 of something when I stopped what I was doing IRL and I need the item to progress.

Are you at a point in one of the main storylines where you need to fight a lot of dire boars? Or where dire boars are invading? I had the same problem in events until I worked past those points.

Space out your rocks when chopping, then if you spawn a dire boar you can move on to other rocks until it is time to collect from sawmills/mines, then leave 1 hit left on a monkey so you don't get more boars, maybe?

The Robot Phoenix itself does not drop event items, it's just a booster. Purchasing the pet is meant to increase your odds of getting those drops elsewhere for the duration of the event.

You should be fine leaving the Monkey parked as it is.

Goal 7 is to visit a Sparkling Mine so simply tapping on it will complete the goal. Goal 8 is when you need to slay the Flying Monkey in order to complete the goal. I wouldn't worry too much about it either way, you'll have plenty of time to find a monkey to fight during the goal since the Flying Wings take 2 Hours to craft.

The thing that gets me is that in Goal 8 we're only tasked to craft 3 Flying Wings to complete the goal. But then in Goal 9 we have to craft 2 Flying Pigs which require 4 Flying Wings each. So many Old Gears needed!

Yes the regular workshop and it shows that I have the materials to build it but it is still locked! This is the goal that would unlock it I will try again and see.

I am wondering if Level or Royal Point total have anything to do with productivity of Broken Robot collection. I updated Royal point value of a few buildings and pulled out every item that has any Royal Point value and placed it in my Kingdom before this event. I have placed items totaling over 7000 Royal Points and my collection from Robots has been ok..... not great.......Maybe I am giving S8 way too much credit!!!!

I am normally about average in my drop rates on my board, however I woke in the middle of the night and collected and with my first collection of the morning in total got 2 Old Gears. Also the monkeys since last evening have been hiding. So being in IT myself I figured that s8 noticed that the Robot Phoenix was rendering the same drops without it, they fixed the drop rate for the Robot Phoenix but to the detriment of those whom dont have it on their board.

Sorry if so spiritwind, I thought as we are hoping s8 can somehow adjust something for the old gears it fit in, so they can adjust what a "reasonable" expectation should be for a free prize to catch people up for a programming error that's making this impossible. I'd love 4 but I think if they did that much fewer people would purchase their paid bundles. Maybe 6 max then... I also do not check in 8 times (0 for a long time and now that I'm back, 3 times... The problem is we don't have 14 full days (or even 13,40 as in the spreadsheet) because the first day starts at 11am and the last ends at 6pm. Another problem - the spreadsheet based on assumption we get average 1 gear from 2 robots. Reading the forum, looks like it's worse. I have 2 or 3 gears form 7 robots, couple times got 4.

3 flying wings in goal 8 is just to warm you up. You'll need 8 wings in goal 9 ( for 2 pigs).

Did you complete all items in goal3. ? You have to place these 3 items to progress & unlock future goals. This is referenced to #90– unable to make beams in goal#5.

Space out your rocks when chopping, then if you spawn a dire boar you can move on to other rocks until it is time to collect from sawmills/mines, then leave 1 hit left on a monkey so you don't get more boars, maybe?

My drops are like yours. If we had better drops from the robots, some of us might be tempted to use gems to hurry them up. The way it is now there is no chance of that.

The only other thing you could do from your end is to uninstall and reinstall the app itself. If this still doesn't fix the issue and your Bug Forum post doesn't get any response, perhaps you could PM a mod and ask them to flag your issue over to the team?

Strangely enough, it is iron ore mostly, black flagged for me but I suppose useful for some as a lot of iron ore is required to make goggles for the flight suit

I'm out, peeps. Did my calculations for the remaining gear collection as the gears are the serious bottleneck in this event. I still need 166 gears, less 30 from the pack, 136... avg 2 gears realistically per collection, 68 more collections over 9 days, 7.5 per day. Except for the next three days I will hardly be able to log on more than three or four times per day. I would have to buy three packs to be on the safe side to get all those gears. It will be cheaper to buy the final prize in germs if I get the gems on sale. This makes three events out of four I haven't been able to really do. : (

GOSH, real life, huh? Hopefully the next event will be something I can fully engage. On the bright side (always a bright side) I have made extra towers with my leftover blocks and beams. : ) They will be nice for fall decorations given the muted colours. : )

Crafted my first Flying Machine - 10 hour timer, first collection gave me $1,976, 1 Wood and 1 Living Wood.

It's very steampunk which I was expecting with this event but I will admit I was expecting it to be smaller. At 2x2 it's very unlikely to remain on my board after this event. It's a shame since we have to go through so much effort to craft them!

I'm with wishtheywerereal. Drops so far have been about 2 per collection. Still need 168 old gears. I have been setting timers, but with meetings and things, I average a collection about every two hours. Energy is not a problem, and I have nearly collected all the nuts and bolts from flying monkeys that I would need. I'll keep going for a few days, but it's not looking good.

Perhaps the drops are better for those who bought the robot Phoenix for 250 gems. It says back of its card that it boosts drop rates of event items.

Even if the drops are a little better with the phoenix, I still don't think it's worth 250 gems (unless you want the phoenix itself for your realm). As others have pointed out, you can buy 125 gears with 250 gems, about half of what we need for the event. As others have suggested on this thread already, the math isn't there to be able to complete this event in the time allowed with the old gear drop rates we are getting. I have to wonder if Storm8 is experimenting with a price point here-- we have these really low gem cost items with terrible drop rates, kind of forcing us to quit, not finish, or buy the gears for 2 gems each.

Obviously, the best fix is to improve the drop rate of the old gear type item to allow us to play the game with reasonable expectations for daily play (NOT every 2 hrs!). In addition to that, in the future, I really hope Storm 8 will lower the cost of the "old gear" type item in this event type to 1 gem (instead of 2 gems). This is supposed to be a free game to play, and I think the 1 gem price better matches that standard. We do get in game gem awards (they are random from adventures, purple cow, dragons, etc.; and as trades in the exchange) that we could use toward a 1 gem price point. 2 gems and above is really forcing us to spend money on the game or earn gems via offers in order to play, IMO.

Surely S8 realizes that attempts to force boosting & buying parts with gems only angers the players & actually deters gem spending rather than encourage it?

After the debacle from last event, I'm sadly a little jaded & frustrated. We'll see how it goes but I fear that I'm going to lose interest. When hope is the first casualty, motivation falls away next. And if I'm not motivated, I don't buy gems. Hope you're paying attention, S8.

They did once an event that was gem based, the uproar was tremendous. This event is feasible, see page 1. Although the old gears drops isn't tremendous, I will have my second pig in a few hours. I am on track compared to page 1 calculation.

Well, from the postings it seems people aren't getting an average of 1 old gear per 2 robots. I bought the first package, am logging in 6-8 times a day, and am about where you are. And I don't have an excess 30 old gears that came in the package left over, I have 2-9. I am getting zero to 3 old gears per collect, a rare 4 on occasion. We need to be getting 3-4 or more per collect. So IMO unless the old gear drop rates increase, many won't make it without gemming or spending $. And this would be the first event I played since starting this game approximately 2 years ago that purchasing a package at the beginning of an event, and playing fairly constantly, won't get me the final item.

My robots have been dropping 4 OGs per collection, a few times only 3, but I've not seen anything above 4 at all this event. Going off of my personal past experiences with and without the booster items, I honestly think my drops would've been the same even if I hadn't bought the bird.

Having 4 old gears drop every collection helps but even if I had that I wouldn't be much farther than the 2 pigs.

If you have any gold dropping items like Pot O Gold, Aideen, Golden Peacock, Lvl 10 Rafflesia Garden, etc, maybe they will work if your chickens don't

They did once an event that was gem based, the uproar was tremendous. This event is feasible, see page 1. Although the old gears drops isn't tremendous, I will have my second pig in a few hours. I am on track compared to page 1 calculation.
The event is only feasible IF you are getting a drop rate better than most of us are experiencing, and IF you can log on every 1.5 hours. I am in the "2 drops per collection" camp. I'm not sure where the drop rate of one gear per two energy comes from, but it's far from my experience!

Then they should stop doing events. Without it, the main plot get 1 update a year, rendering the game boring for a lot of players. That is way at some time the u-goals were created.

Now today my drop rate of old gears is close on 0. So I can use my workshops to craft other things as I am totally stalled.

I play on 2 accounts and I am at the point of making the flying wings for the flight suit on both.

The higher level account (level 50), I have purchased the old gears with gems to be able to craft the blocks and beams.

In my lower level (39), the requirements are a small bit different. I have not used gems at all because I have none (lol). For the flying pigs we only needed 3 wings. For the flight suit requirements are the same as the higher levels, but it looks like we only need 1 flight suit, 3 old gears, and 3 luminescence to craft the pilot.

Feathers won't be an issue. I get 2 drops per harvest, enough to gather more then enough for the whole event in a few days. I am waiting for gears to progress.

I agree! Being able to log in more should enable one to finish early! Not prohibit them from finishing if unable to play every 1.5 hours!! I realize S8 is a business and needs to make money; people who Never spend shouldn't complain too much. The "free" aspect allows us to see if we enjoy the game and lets us play it somewhat, to determine that. But people who have jobs/allowances and are willing to spend shouldn't be penalized for not playing 24/7. I purchase event packs to finish early, or when I know Real Life events are looming and I can't play much, but I still want the prize.
Perhaps S8 staff sees this as "challenging" us higher levels so the game isn't boring. I know when at a lower level I was excited to be able to finish events and get the prize, having much less energy, coin, and resources. But IMO this event makes it seem like we Must use gems/buy packs to finish, which is distasteful.
Here 's to hoping the drop rates increase significantly for the next week! So we can craft everything and finish!

P.S. Oh Baron, can't you find a cache of gears/bird feathers for us?

I've collected twice on two mines and two sawmills and failed to spawn a gear Monkey. No other monster is present. I leveled up and can't get a monkey. Force close didn't help either. This seems very wrong.

The Robot Phoenix is supposed to increase Chances of other items dropping event parts. Not sure what you are referring to by "mechanical Phoenix". Do you mean the Broken Robot? Or Robot Bird? Those drop event parts. If you have a Robot Phoenix and it gave some event parts, you had/have an awesome glitch! Unless when S8 writes on the inventory card "increases chances of (event items)" the Increased Chance means people were supposed to collect from said item, instead if it increasing the chances of other items to drop event stuff!

This quest has definitely alienated a lot of players not above level 30! I thought these events were ?geared? to Level 15! No way a Level 15 could complete this event without gems or a large herd of Alicorns. I have paid 2 gems per block/beam for nearly three fourths of needed items. Did not buy value pack, since they would not help with quest significantly. HOW does 5 Enchanted Lanterns help one finish A Tinkerers Tale?????? I used to be able to inform Level 20?s on their first quest ? all you have to do is play game at least 3 times a day, use all free energy that game accrues toward quest items, ignore your kingdom needs for the needs of the quest. Don?t worry, CS always gives you enough time to get finished if you play the game consistently. Resources needed to finish quest will drop over course of event? No longer can I give this advice. This quests dismal drops, even with buying THE BIRD and incessant number of items needed to craft makes it impossible to finish on 3 visits to kingdom or even four without spending money. And waiting for supplies to drop, so a block/beam can be made started ,isn?t an option if you want to complete quest. one has to use gems .2 at a time. I have spent over 500 gems including THE BIRD & Racoon- which should have cost crowns . Lower levels can not complete this quest without money.

My robot phoenix has never dropped event parts. On page 1 it says it does (under 'drops') but I don't think it is supposed to. Think it's only supposed to boost drops.

The requirements for high-level players are, to put it mildly, crazy. As of now, with 7+ days left on the clock, I still have one more Flight Suit to craft before I can start on the Pilot Faerie.

I don't believe that I would have been able to get this far this quickly if not for the many energy droppers in my queendom giving me 400+ extra energy every day; that and the tonne of unused Silver Elven Runes I converted to Fast-Worker-Boosts for the Workshops. The extra energy went a long way in helping with the chopping of the Oil Ores and Rock Outcroppings, and the boosters sped up the crafting of the Industrial Blocks and Beams.

While my extra energy sources have allowed storage of the chains and oil, I believe the roadblock really is gears.

I've been splitting energy between the event and my kingdom pretty evenly, so my extra energy hasn't helped me progress in the event. It has allowed me to collect from my high coin items and trade ticket givers. The only reason I have 8 gears in storage currently is because I made the goggles. Once I collect the last two goggles, I will be waiting on gears to make blocks and beams.

I should make it, "just" 23 more of each.

My strategy on the step for goggles is
1. Make the goggles when my iron ore is above 70. Remember only 8 needed.(Done)
2. Collect chains from iron rich rocks. (Now can buy the cheaper rock outcroppings since goggles are done
3. Collect from robot birds until I have 8 metallic feathers. (Done)
4. Collect from robots as close to every 90 minutes as possible.
5. make the flying machines and flight suit once I have 21 each of the beams and blocks, so then I only need 15 beams and blocks and should have gears to make a few before the next steps.

For me, this will make the end of the event less stressful, knowing I really only need gears, oil and chains.

Metallic feathers I was in the lucky camp, as I got 3 from each of my first 2 collections (all 5 birds purchased) and then only needed to collect from 3 more birds to get the last 2.

Gears, I average 2 per collection and sometimes get 3.

I haven’t even crafted one. Just got to that goal and I need a lot of materials to craft one. Not sure I can get done, but I will keep trying. Not going to spend gems on this one and will be okay if I don’t finish. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. Lol

First collection from pilot faerie gave 1 trade ticket and yes I used gems for the 2nd flight suit skipping it was 220 gems which was the least expensive and time consuming option for me

I use the table on page 1 to see if I am on track to finish based on old gears. I realized at the start of the event, we originally needed the average old gear drop rate to be 20 per day (261 total old gears needed/13 days*). Thus the frustration for players (like me) who were only getting 1.5 old gears (on average) per seven robot collection. At my game's drop rate, I would have had to collect 13 times a day (over the course of 19.5 hours) just to keep the pace, aka, get 20 old gears a day.

So, I felt compelled to use gems for the first four days of the event. I ended up using about 30 gems, just to keep pace. Two days ago, my game's old gear drop rate started to change. Now I am down to 14.3 old gears needed per day for the remainder of the event, and I am able to collect 6+ times a day, so I think I am on track to finish without any more gems -- fingers crossed.

So come on game designers, figure this out already!:
Assume a reasonable amount of log ins/collections per day by players (eg, 5) and program the limiting factor in the event (aka, 20 old gears needed) to reasonably be collected.
In this current event--The robots were great! Why couldn't four robots have been programmed to each drop an old gear (4@ 5 collections per day=20 old gears) and three robots had a chance of dropping, with the Royal Phoenix helping them out with that? Or just have let us buy fewer robots with a given drop rate each of 1, and the phoenix can increase that to a chance of 2+. We shouldn't have to use gems to keep up, or get so frustrated by drops that we give up!

*I took 2 hrs off event start time (for Old Thomas) and 1 hour off end time (for second flight suit) to get 13.17 days, then rounded down.

On my level 50 account, I have to make the 5 flying wings to craft the 2nd flight suit. I still need 11 each blocks and beams and 9 nuts and bolts. I'm not positive how many old gears, but close to the 44 still. Pretty sure I can make it without using any more gems.

Just as an aside, I've seen a few people saying things like they are making their last wings for goal 9. I am assuming you have gemmed ahead, is that right? Surely you can't be there with the normal drop rate? That seems impossible tome - or am I just getting a really bad drop rate? I average about 2 per drop.


My opinion is that there can hardly be anyone who will end this event without giving gems...
