There are several threads on the most profitable crop over an unlimited amount of time and I will not rehash the benefits of Black Currant.

I created this spreadsheet and thread to discuss which crop to plant if you have a specific amount of time (3 hrs, 10 hrs, 12 hrs, 2 days, etc.) that you know you will not be playing Farm Story and you want to make the most coin in your absence.

Therefore I submit for your review:

Cool story bro.
Pretty obvious that the crop you get @ a higher level will give the most profit of the same time requirement.
The most profitable is just Black Currant.
But not everyone checks the game every 4 hours.

So from the chart you can see that the most profitable crop if you will not be replanting for 4 days is red quinoa, 2 or 3 days spinach, 1 day potato, 8-16 hours is broccoli, 6 hours is cabbage, 4 hours is black currant, and 3 is carrot.

Once you get to high levels, cranberry and cantaloupe are also very productive crops.

It all depends on how long you're going to play with the game or check on it. If you have 30 minutes, then plant cranberries

here's a link to another spreadsheet :)

I think that, we are actually playing this game, not farming, which means that, we couldn't just plant, and leave the farm there for several days just becuz the profit will come when corps are collected. More than that, if we can get on the game several times a day, and do it for 3 days, it is for sure that the profit which you do several times a day, is more than the 3-days-crop. So I think people who actually likes the game, and love to play with it, just don't plant those 2 3 4 days corps, or you'll get stuck on it, everytime you get on the game, you can do nothing, but just wait till the time to come. That is no fun at all. Base on that, the most profit corp, have to be calculated base on how many times gamer can get on the game everyday.

You should update the sheet since there is some new crops around. By far the Cantaloupe is now the best crop for money!

There's more to consider than profitability. How about this? Wait too long to collect your crop and it withers away, you get nothing. If you want, say, 12 hours leeway to collect a crop after it matures, you need a crop that matures in no less than 12 hours. So, tomatoes (yield 4 to 1 return) is a good choice. Takes 16 hours to mature, so you have roughly 16 hours to collect after maturity.

There are many mistakes in the spreadsheet....pineapple does not yield a 4500% return....the return for strawberry and raspberry are much more than 1000 and 2000%.....

you still dont address the crop that is the most profitable.....sure red quinoa with make the most money PER CROP, thats easy enough to see without a spreadsheet, but who wants to wait 4 days?

each plot you own can net you 1440 per day if you want to do the work...cranberry's are by far the most profitable crop.....but its the opposite extreme, you have to each your farm 48 times a day.....

I just do yellow squash because its the happy medium...and you only have to check your farm 4 times a day....640 pp/pd (per plot per day) ...
12x12=92160 npd (net per day)
13x13=108160 npd
14x14=125440 npd
15x15=144000 npd

just a thought.....but cranberry net you 324000 npd on a 15x15 farm......

Farmer Jack,
As stated in the OP the goal of this spreadsheet is to show which crop is the most profitable for a give amount of time. So If you can't or don't want to check your farm for 8 hours, what should you plant? What about 1 day, what about 3 hours? Yes as you have stated and so has everyone else on this forum, raspberry and strawberry are the most profitable if you want to constantly check your farm.

d3lphi
06-18-10, 08:53 AM
I have decided to remove the % return calculations for strawberry and raspberry as there is no seed cost and I am calculating % return by (profit / seed cost) where profit is (collection - seed cost - plow cost). Therefore if seed cost is 0 there is no way to calculate the % return for strawberry and raspberry.

One thing to take into consideration too is the real time that you have...

Say for instance you are going to be able to check back on the 7th hour... it will probably be more profitable to do yellow squash, let it sit for 1 hour and then collect and do pineapple... the total for the 8 hours will be more than if you had planted broccoli...

Same maths also work if you have 30 hours in front of you...

I believe the correct "Collection" numbers are Watermelon 340 and Asparagus 300. These numbers bump Watermelon up as the best crop for 12 and 16 hours, though for 5 fewer coins for Asparagus at 16 hours, you get 3 vs 2 XPs - a reasonable tradeoff.

I suggest adding a column to indicate at what Level each crop becomes available. Such an indication would facilitate determining which crops could actually be planted, given a farmer's particular level. These figures may be hard to determine, though, as they disappear from the Store listings once the crop is available at a farmer's level.

What about coffee and dalhia. What are thier cost and profit.

Thanks.

Hi,

Coffee is the best 8 hour produce.
Plough cost:10 Costs: 310 pays: 505 profit: 185. That is 23.13 $ per hour. It has a XP of 2.

It is a great bedtime plant (grows while you sleep). The only issue I have found (not sure if it is me) is they can't be watered when they are flowers, so I plant some Broccoli so my neighbours have something to do :D

Coffee is not good for cash flow; they are by far the most expensive plant. So make sure you have enough funs before you plant (otherwise you will be planting strawberries for a while to pay for the rest of your planting. Not that has ever happen to me :D) Also letting it wither would be criminal.

Yellow squash is better at 26.67 $ per hour and also has a XP of 2 (this is the best XP 2 produce). But over 8 hour time period the coffee would do better (guess it depends on how long you sleep :)

Strawberry fields forever
The best produce by far is strawberry (240 $ per hour, 12 XP per hour), but they do tent to hurt your fingers. But if every time you change your crop, you do one lot of strawberries it soon adds up.

Dahila ? Plough cost: 10 cost: 100 pay:160 profit: 50. That is 1.04 $ per hour. It has no XP
I think you grow these because they look nice, I guess.

Not sure which is sadder, that I have worked this out or that I am taking my time to write about it. lol.

Hope this was helpful

Happy farming.
P.S. no payment necessary :p

I'm level 42 right now, so I don't have access to celery yet, nor to the 5 new crops (lettuce, blueberry, eggplant, yams and chili pepper).

Would someone be able to indicate harvest time and buy / sell prices for these ?

It's interesting to see that although two cows in a plot makes 96 coins per day (based on a 20 hour cycle), four chickens on a plot make 128 coins per day (based on a 6 hour cycle) and four white chickens on a plot actually make 192 coins per day.

So it's actually more profitable to keep chickens, lots of them, then cows/sheep.

You can't keep chicken (or any other animals) that close together. It's unethical. Lol

I would add these 3 columns right after profit/hour, it will allow people to type in thier farm specific info to see the best options for them!!! so they know what to plant for the time they have allotted to harvest.
