STORYBOOK: Arctic Freeze

Red lines for low level players, level 24 or below.
Blue lines for high level players, above level 24.

Chapter 1

Nature is a strange and wondrous force that is balanced by the four elements: Earth, Fire, Air, and Water. The powerful forces of earth are kept in check by the air which fuels the flames that are quenched by the waters of nature. However, one day this balanced was thrown off during The Arctic Freeze!

Chapter 2

It all started out in the bays off the coast of the Forest, with flocks of Fueljays lazily sitting in the currents, enjoying yhe bright sunlight. Without warning, gusts of freezing wind came in from the East, and before the Fueljays had time to react, they were frozen in the ice that had overtaken the shore!

Chapter 3

Looking on in horror, the denizens of The Forest fled inland in an attempt to avoid the terrible fate that had befallen the Fueljays. Each one was now bobbing around in the bay, encased in oversized ice cubes, and each one trapped within the frigid waters. Not one creature raised a paw to help these trapped Fuelsjays, not one except the Yellow Lavadors.

Chapter 4

When news of the Arctic Freeze reached them in their caves, many wanted to help the surface!

Chapter 5

A team of six lava specialists made their way to blizzard that had engulfed the entire bay, and be*** to send the head of their flames into the heart of the storm!

Chapter 9

Being so young, they did not understand the gravity of the situation, and simply wanted to play with a new friend. They laughed and they played and they gave just enough of an opening for this conflict to end. Chapter 10

The Firehoppers were jumping from cube to cube, melting enough ice to let the Fuelfays fly free without destroying the new home of the Frosterriers! This precision intervention gave everyone what they wanted; the Fueljays were no longer stuck in ice, and the Frosterriers got to keep their new home in the Arctic Freeze. After this intense confrontation, all of the dogs, Yellow Lavador and Frosterrier, laughed over how silly it was to flight without talking first. With everyone free and happy once more, peace returned torhe Forest, and happiness to the creatures who lived in it!

Am I reading the storybook correct? Is the FireHopper really the Ultra Rare and first animal we get? Is the grand prize really only Rare? I feel like it is backwards. Not complaining just confused and curious.

I?m really glad about that because the other animals look just like our common frost fang and hottweiler!

@jmatarii shouldn't the evolution in ch 7 be 12 hours? (9 for low lvl ppl) 6 hours doesn't cost 24 gems to skip, it's usually double the amt of evolve time

I guess this is a way to tweak the difficulty of story books up, without changing the format much. it also improves the chances people will start the LB with a pretty big incentive upfront and takes the edge off not finishing the event by neutering the grand prize. Getting an ultra rare up front and raising it up to 15 also improves new players chances of finishing the battle requirements for this event. if this wasn't a goof up, it may not be a terrible change to the format. my only concern is the amount of food required to raise it to 15. i think 15 hours is not a terrible evolve time and usually i have plenty of time during the event to pre-evolve animals before the goal comes up.

well if thats correct that we get the ultra rare first there may be a few reasons for that

One might be they are randomly mixing things up
Since theres been less variation lately thats possible
It could be accidental

Another might be an experiment to see if we are still motivated to finish

And i have noticed mostly i am motivated to finish because i just like to get to the end regardless

Of course good prizes help. But unless theres a big change i have too many animals in storage so its just to finish

When i run out of space i cant see how i will continue to do any events which need any new spaces for animals

I have a busy week this week so not sure how that will impact, will have to see. And time is a factor for everyone

Ultra rares take a phenomenal amount of food
We just had two leaderboard events which scuppered my food as i needed to feed as we had to have something to evolve

Plus i blew too many gems on that

I'm not worried about the evolution time as it's a 10 day event, plus I'm finding it harder and harder to find animals to evolve that meet the minimum time requirements since they have introduced so many 5 hour animals in recent month. That being said, my concern with them labeling the animals as Ultra Rare vs Rare, etc, is that, if everyone reaches the first animal, but not everyone reaches the final animal, then the first one is not truly an Ultra Rare. I mean, I actually thought that the labels meant something - meant how difficult it was to obtain the animal, and not everyone would necessarily have it. Apparently it doesn't mean anything then?

My older account has no room and not much food, so I played through to get the first animal and will play until I get the 5000 free apples, and then that account is done. It pains me to not have a collection, but these animals are really uninspiring to me and since I have nowhere to put them anyway, who cares? My second account will complete unless I decide at some point in the next few days that it just isn't worth it.

I really like this game and play it most days when I can, so thanks to s8. However I do have an issue with the relative size of some animals, especially those which we have to evolve for storybooks. I have several disproportionately large dogs, cats and other animals which I try and hide away and now it looks like I am going to have another huge rabbit - shrubunny is far too big as well, I really hate these huge unrealistic creatures.

Yes to this! I?m not a fan of this switch gig at all - I?m less motivated to complete all the chapters for a rare animal and sad about all the food I?ll have to use up if I do

IMO if they?re trying to make certain players happier with the Storybook the better thing to do is make commons actually common to breed!

I like the design of the bunny and wolf tho :)

Yes! In their splash pic it's got a fluffy bunny tale on fire, but what they're actually giving out is a bunny with a chunk of a magic mirror glued to his behind. Laughable... Anyone knows what happens to the face-chunk when the critter's evolved?

The model of the baby form is bugged I can confirm that (lv 1-3). The juvenile and upwards are fine.

Thanks guys for your bug posts - it looks like a bug now. Hmmmm strange that I didn't have this issue in my game, baby-juvenile-adult all showed up fine, pictures in Creatures Guide. I've reported this over for them to fix. Cheers.

Are we supposed to get the Frosterrier egg once we complete Chapter 6?

I’ve cleared the Chapter but no Frosterrier egg. I’ve even forced-closed and reopened the game three times. Am I missing something?

Is it a crazy idea to run the Leaderboard event at the same time as the Storybook event? That, what, over 200k food would be how many points? It's almost cry worthy. We need to introduce something new into the mix here. :/ Or maybe don't use an Ultra Rare animal as the one to level up to 15. OOOORRRR (crazy idea!) don't make us level anything passed 10. :|

Side note: I, too, think the Firehopper looked the cutest at the juvenile stage (levels 4-9)

didnt make it to the end of this one either. Couldnt even get to level 30 on the battleground. When it takes 2 days to win one battle without using real money to beat it, it stops being fun. Ive made a choice, I decided that I would rather my husband and I get to go on vacation instead of spending all our vacation money on winning critters, dragons, or any other virtual reality item or creature. So, while I will continue to play the games, I love them, I will no longer be buying gold, gems, More turns, or whatever is required to win any tournament, level, or contest. I would rather be in Hawaii or Europe, or on a cruise.

I didn't really care about this one, with so many breeds of dogs they could actually draw new breeds if they wanted to. I'm kind of tired of recolored animals or gigantic dogs that are bigger than elephants

Indeed! They could make a whole game just about dogs and have all the different breeds. The AKC currently recognizes 190 breeds, plus there are other breeds that exist but aren't part of the AKC. Plus, they could make some really fun crossbreeds and mutts that incorporate the Puns or word play that they like to use in this game.

Speaking of dogs, does anyone else group their animals by type? I mean, you can't really do it a lot because they have different elements, but I currently have one whole habitat that is just pugs: it has 2 Ladypugs at different levels and 2 Love Pugs at different levels (so like a baby and an adult of each). I also recently gave one of my male deer an entire harem of female deer. Thankfully they all shared an element. He's a happy stag now! :)

Didn't finish on either of my accounts. Was nowhere even close to level 30 in tourney....oh well. First time that has happened to me since starting my baby account in January. Hate that tourneys are connected with SB!

Speaking of dogs, does anyone else group their animals by type? I mean, you can't really do it a lot because they have different elements, but I currently have one whole habitat that is just pugs: it has 2 Ladypugs at different levels and 2 Love Pugs at different levels (so like a baby and an adult of each). I also recently gave one of my male deer an entire harem of female deer. Thankfully they all shared an element. He's a happy stag now! :)

LOL :) I like to group by type too! I put together a dragon mountain when the lava lagoon hab went on sale and I?m working currently on a medieval knight horse theme since we have so many of those heh
