The Candy Alicorn Community Event Information

* Help! I can't see the upgrade button? If you do not see the upgrade button, click somewhere else on the board and then click back on the item. The upgrade button may not appear until several goals have been completed!
* Help! The drops aren't going into my inventory! There is a counter on the top right of screen and all drops go there. They do not go into inventory.

* To get the first individual prize, you need to collect 15 Jack-O-Lanterns.
* When you reach 15, the next individual prize opens up for you and will show you how many Jack-O-Lanterns you will need for the next individual prize.
* Once you reach 400 Jack-O-Lanterns, you are eligible for any and all of the prizes that are earned by the community (shown on the second row).
* The total number of Jack-O-Lanterns is updated on the counter as soon as they drop, not when they are collected.
* Be mindful that upgrading resets the timer back to 2 hours.

Once you complete the upgrade of the Haunted House, a separate goal is triggered. This is the final community prize, so it should auto complete at the end of the event. clicking on GO just takes you to the Community screen, so you can't do anything additional to complete this goal except wait.

I have collected 3 Old maps from chopping rock outcroppings. I assume these are for the adventures, but I can't see anything in the castle yet. I'm currently making the boar costume, so it must appear some time after that. I don't think you'll be disadvantaged by not being able to use your castle for adventures for a few hours.

S8 giveth And S8 taketh away. I just had the same issue with my dark unicorn. It dropped three trade tickets and then there was a momentary pause, not even a full rollback, and everything else stayed collected,except for the unicorn, which of course only dropped one ticket when I tapped it again. Funny, it didn’t reset after dropping only one. I’ve lost gems the same way when collecting from dragons. :mad: Wouldn’t it be nice if the glitches were ever in the players favor? It’s starting to feel like it may be deliberate.

Reserving judgement on this event so far. My mermaid workshops also reverted back to mermaid crafts, and the troll trade post dropped the toy club on the first collection. Hopefully that will continue to happen if we are going to need several clubs.

This is why I think S8 should take some time between events to make make sure the next planned one can run smoothly. Then confusing stuff like this, and giving away Witchiest Workshop as a reward the previous event, would not happen.

Now that they've planted the idea of using Mermaid Workshop, it's kind of disappointing that they don't utilize it more.

But thanks, S8, for making the cute Candy Alicorn the prize we can achieve if we work towards it and making the citizen the random chest prize.

5 --> Yes, the Alicorn is the final Individual Prize in the Community event. However, the rest of the question is a bit of a moot point.

In order to collect the Jack-O-Lanterns needed to earn the Alicorn, we have to upgrade the Haunted House as each upgrade means the Haunted House drops more JOLs. The goals walk us through these upgrades so sadly, the goals aren't optional in this case because you don't have a chance of completing the Community Event without fully upgrading the HH via the goals.

Glimmer Rock Formation has good drops for me. I got Spider Thread every 2-3 hits and it also dropped a Mithril and Golden Nugget. Dark Cave Formation gave me no special drops and a Spider Thread every 4th hit - so like a 10-hit Rock Outcropping. I know most players don't care for Elvenite, but the Slab easily dropped me a couple of Old Maps if anyone is interested in Adventures. These are just my findings while chopping up the different rocks in my kingdom, it may be different for others!

Check all items are checked off as complete in your goal book. You only can upgrade when the goal asks. Post in bugs forum if you're still having issues.

Obviously very sweet, but supposedly fat free. I'd like to come up with a comparable texture, but there isn't one, heh. Maybe if you thickened the "creme" in a cadbury creme egg until it was a cohesive solid - not hard, but not soft. Maybe like hardened cake frosting, but solid throughout.

The important thing to know, as an american child, is that the three colors do not have different flavors. But I still check, just in case.

I also wasted 50 gems. I got 2 maps and 18 spider threads. I could have gotten those from chopping a rock outcropping. NOT happy. It said costumes ?what are all those faces??

I've just ****ed two boars and no boar tails dropped from them. I know that it says that you only get tails from fang beasts, but c'mon! No BOAR tails from BOARS?

That said, I love that 'special' items from old events/stories like swampy ponds, haunted stables and pink chickens are dropping items we need. (Back in the day, they didn't.) Thanks S8!

Despite my dislike of walkers in general, I do have to admit that these Halloween walkers are super adorable and I'm letting them roam freely this month. Perhaps if they continue to release seasonal walkers (as random prizes instead of main event prizes) I'll learn to love them?

First time poster - long time follower of the forum (always helpful to see tips and tricks of others- especially of those who have gemmed ahead to the next goals.) I enjoyed the previous event, and am looking forward to building up my Ali army with the grand prize of this event.

Like others- I do wish there was *some* breathing time in between events. A) For all players to rebuild inventory and recoup. B) For the designers to catch a break, and fix some glitches before rolling everything out. :rolleyes:

I am not the biggest fan of the walkers. They just clog my board and lag the game. I keep a few out, but am sitting on a nest of unused crowns from previous events.

Crowns can be used to "purchase" walkers for your kingdom. Some walkers are event-specific (meaning you can only purchase them during the event.) You should be able to see your crown count by going to Market -> Town Square ->Then clicking on an individual walker. Do not click "Summon" unless you want to use your crowns on that walker.

Is anybody else disappointed with the haunted house? I was so excited to see that it had ghosts rising out of it, but now I?ve seen the upgraded version and low and behold, the ghosts disappear in favor of bats. They?ve done a building or two with bats in the past, so why couldn?t they keep the ghosts for something different?? I so don?t want to upgrade it now because I really like the ghosts, but I know I need to for the event. Argh!

Sadly, I don't have it either. I recall when they relisted it for sale last year that they wanted us to sell one of our original Stables to purchase it instead of letting have it as a third Stable so I gave it a hard pass. I do hope they'll offer it as it was meant to be sold at some point in the future. It sure would be nice to have a bonus Stable for these sorts of events where all the drops are random and every bit helps!

And am I the only one that is wishing they had included the event materials in the mystery chests like they did last event? I'm only two days in and I'm already sick of waiting for the toy bats, lol.

I was wondering if maybe my Tombs were duds but I forgot for a second about that weird glitch at the beginning. Thanks for pointing that out; I'm really hoping it wasn't a glitch as that would be a nice bonus to be able to collect from more than just the Haunted House.

Is anyone else tired of having to send neighbor requests every single day? The rewards really aren't worth it (I've been lucky enough to get the special pets but never anything else worthwhile)

I have to say I'm not. I still remember the bad 'ole days when you'd have to send out requests to get 30 of some item, and you couldn't progress with the event until they all came in. I love that the requests are an optional daily choice instead of a mandatory roadblock to progress

Also I think the rewards are totally worth it - free jack-o-lanterns!

Fangbeasts have gone in hiding. My second kingdom seems luckier than my first. I had 2 spooky trees, a spooky scarecrow and a witchy walker drop from chests. So I'm happy with the chests.

So far the spooky tree dropped bones, creep tooth and sap.

It's considered a Decoration, not a building so be sure you're searching both the Market and your inventory under the proper tabs. It took me ages to find mine after I stored it because I was looking in the entirely wrong place.

I looked and on iOS the Troll Camp is located on Page 2 under the Decorations tab in the Market, so it's right at the beginning.

Ghosts go when you upgrade to Level 4. I can't see any bats yet but there isn't anything floating above the house at L4. Will let you know how L5 looks unless someone else posts:)

Rock Outcropping spawned 4 boars in a row, I need fang beast for the boars tail.
The Rock Outcropping also didn't drop very much spider thread, which is an ingredient in all the costumes.

Drops from my favorite animals in may kingdom wore horrible this morning:
*Dark Unicorn didn't drop trade tickets
*Meadow wolf, Agni and Fawnicorn all didn't drop Spellbound Dew

Please fix the drop rate s8, makes the game not fun.

Long time player here. I am rarely this motivated to add to the negativity... sorry all. But, This is way worse than collecting from Ivy’s hut!!! More opportunities to be disappointed/frustrated. No treats at the troll camp when you visit... mostly tricks! I suggest programmers put in logic to keep zero drops from recurring on consecutive hits. :( even if they up the requirements I’d feel like progress was possible.

I play because the graphics are great, the story is now progressing more, and many more expansions possible. I have patience, but less tolerance. Have fun folks!

If S8 insists on randomizing things, the least they could do for their players is have a guaranteed drop of a random prize. This event has the perfect opportunity for that; everyone could be guaranteed a drop of one of the trick-or-treat walkers, it would just be random which one you would get. That would actually be fair instead of alienating some players with random drops that some people are lucky enough to get and others aren?t! Please, S8, can you start being fair about the randomness?!

It's considered a Decoration, not a building so be sure you're searching both the Market and your inventory under the proper tabs. It took me ages to find mine after I stored it because I was looking in the entirely wrong place.

I looked and on iOS the Troll Camp is located on Page 2 under the Decorations tab in the Market, so it's right at the beginning.

I looked looked in decorations. Nothing. No troll camp. Going to check for updates and try again. Never had anything like this happen and I?ve been playing for awhile. Thanks for the help. I think I have a glitch.

Because it sounds to me like you're referring to the Troll Castle (right pic) which has a 22 hour timer where the Troll Camp (left pic) definitely has a 6 hour timer. They both have a 3x3 footprint and are similar colors so it would be easy to get them mixed up.

Good grief. I was really happy because the troll camp had a six hour timer unlike the 12 for Ivy'y house. And then I had four consecutive collections with zero drops. I am on the level that needs three of each costume. I have six of the other two and none of the trolls.

I haven't done the last couple of events and I was fine with that. The final prizes weren't motivation enough for me to play as often as I would have needed to. No problem. I have storylines to work on. But I was really excited about this one. Now I am sad.

My chests have had decent drops. I have gotten two hay patch things (really wish we could sell those! Who wants two of them?) a spooky tree and some decent numbers of pumpkins. I have very responsive neighbors so that helps a lot.

Yes, the 6-hour random drop is the "careful what you wish for" answer from S8 when we whine about Ivy's Hut collections. I wish they would just split the difference and do an 8-hour regular drop.

I agree 100%! I would really love that ghost walker :) I was really hoping for the vampire bat from last event but did not get that due to my horrific luck! Haha. I was visiting my neighbors today and saw that some of them have two trick or treater walkers, so I have to admit that I am sadly feeling a little bit left out over here! :(

Fangbeasts have gone on holiday for me too. Nothing has been working consistently for me. Can?t upgrade because of this. And my troll camp is dry as well.

I was was wondering what the spooky tree dropped. I have two and apparently am full of bones creep tooth and sap since I haven?t seen anything dropping from any of those trees.

They don't always drop something, sometimes they just drop coins (650 coins when not giving a black flag). I'm doing quite okay with the fangbeasts now, just chopping small rock piles.

I also got 2 haunted lanterns from chests. Correction: it seems they have dropped from the vampire tombs

If you haven't got it on your board, press the "Go" button in your goal and it should take you to either your inventory or the market.

Small Rock Pile vs Large Rock Outcropping.
I go with the small rock piles. 5 hits and I usually, not always, get 2-3 spider silk compared to the 20 hits with outcropping and getting maybe 2, more dire boar spawns then ever and glimmertroll spawn. Plus the old map is super rare on outcropping. As for the small rock pile, I did get an old map from one so I'm sticking with my little rocks.

The troll camp drops are terrible. I am on working on the upgrade to lvl 4 Haunted house, already have 3/4 witch costumes and 2/4 dire boar costumes made and 0/4 troll costumes.
I wish the old map drops were better so the adventure would be a help, but sadly they are not. Plus I feel I am so unlucky that the adventure probably wouldn't drop a toy club anyway. Last time I only got witch hat and a spider silk.

Rock Outcropping spawned 4 boars in a row, I need fang beast for the boars tail.
The Rock Outcropping also didn't drop very much spider thread, which is an ingredient in all the costumes.

Drops from my favorite animals in may kingdom wore horrible this morning:
*Dark Unicorn didn't drop trade tickets
*Meadow wolf, Agni and Fawnicorn all didn't drop Spellbound Dew

Please fix the drop rate s8, makes the game not fun.

Even if S8 wants to sell Fangbeast Traps, shouldn't there at least be SOME moderation on the Dire Boar spawns? 4 in a row on the same Rock Outcropping is ridiculous. Like come on! If you're reluctant to give a Fangbeast, at least give less Dire Boars, I'm sure I completed the Dire Boar frenzy goal, they should not be spawning this crazily.

In a sad attempt to at least limit some Dire Boar spawns, I've been trying to get Fangbeast spawns from Crab Apple Trees, Swans/Chickens, and the Hatcheries and Stables. If I've collected all I need from these and still don't have enough Boar Tails, I'll use the couple of Fangbeast Traps I got from Adventures before I have to subject myself to the Rock Outcropping again. But I hope it doesn't come to that, and I have enough Boar Tails that I can park a monster before collecting the rest of the Spider Threads. It's very frustrating because, not only is it difficult to get a Fangbeast to spawn, but I keep getting interrupted by Dire Boars while while trying to chop away.

Aside from Dire Boar ridiculousness, the Toy Club is the item holding me up, too. When I needed 2 more to get to the next level, an Adventure gave me none, the Troll Camp didn't drop it, and then I had to basically wait 12 hours for 2 chances to obtain it - and then it would be another 2 hours to craft the costume when I get the item. Compared to some other players, I'm luckier with my drops, but the waiting combined with possibly not getting the drop really sucks. :(

I have 32 collections left. (10 days plus 2 today) So possibly 16 drops.
I need another 17. So that is very close.
Still hoping for something wonderful from the trick or treat adventure. So far just the things that are easy to get.
I?m glad I put this down on paper. It seemed a lot grimmer 5 minutes ago.

I think the six hour timer is better than Ivy, because at least you can start early each day, having missed one overnight. Ivy?s timer gets pushed along a little each day, until I catch it up with gems.

Lol, before checking in the forum I thought the drop rate was 100% because it literally dropped for me every time I collected (albeit not every 6 hours). The Fangbeasts, on the the hand...

Did you use Gem animals or the regular (coins) one. In my experience from previous MH events was that gem animal tend to spawn event monsters, while regular animals spawn normal monsters. Could this be the case?

Ugh, who do I have to swing my pixel sword at to get a fangbeast? Is it the Baron? Is he hoarding all the fangbeasts so he can make a winter coat? What gives with this spawn rate?!?! Normally I get a bunch from just checking on the chickens and cows, but I just checked 30+ animals and NOTHING. Not even a boar, of which I have a stampede apparently running through my queendom that I didn't know about. I was getting them from rocks three days ago, but now all I get are stupid boars, if I get even that. I've chopped three outcroppings in a row and didn't get anything. =(

Since I have an overabundance of copper token things from the elven trading post (it'll be another three years or something before I have enough gold ones to do anything with them), I'll try the elvenite slab, as someone suggested. Maybe that'll do something.

EDIT: I just got a map, spider silk, and a fangbeast from the first pile, so whether luck, coincidence, or what have you, it's worth a try.

I'm getting the best results with chopping small rock piles. Normally my crops don't spawn many fangbeasts, so I don't even try.

The drop rate for the Troll Camp is the same this time around as it was in the last event where it was used. I get one drop for every two collections so am getting two a day since I collect from it four times a day.

Just keep hammering away at Rock Outcroppings. You'll need all the Spider Thread anyway. Just make sure you don't have any other monsters around when you're clearing those rocks, you'll get some Dire Boars but there'll be Fangbeasts too.

The bonus in doing this is that you'll get Old Maps too. I've been able to go out on the Trick-or-Treat Adventure once (sometimes twice) every day.

Once you get one the others become available in the Town Hall for gems. Personally 200 gems for a walker is too steep. I too would like the ghost walker but I won't drop gems for it. I would turn in crowns for it.

I don't like the trend that gems are needed in Town Square. I was under the impression (obviously mistakenly) that the crowns were the "currency" for Town Square. I won't use gems for a walker, but I would use some of my stock of crowns.

Same for me, that's why I stopped using rock outcroppings. It may be a little more expensive, but I'm not getting the annoying dire boars or trolls with the small rock piles (so far).

Without reaching level 5 it will be very hard to get. Level 6 is not mandatory. But L6 is much nicer to look at :) Be sure to have 3 chests each day, that way you might gain a lot of Lanterns for low cost. A major part of my lanterns come from the chests. I have now reach level 5, so the chests will be less relevant.

How do I upgrade the haunted house? There?s no toolbar that comes up when I tap on it

I have no clue what anyone is talking about with the many goals of this haunted event. I can?t even get my haunted house to Level 2 better yet getting pink or ghost chickens. I don?t buy things with cash either I really really don?t have cash to spend on games I have to many other priorities just to get by.

You probably have to follow the quest steps (make this, make that) before it will allow you to upgrade.

The weird types of chickens mentioned are from past special events, and not available to new players like myself. Regular chickens, flowers, stables, etc are all that is needed. The players with those special items just have more possible sources.

This is my first "free app" game, and I find it boils down to time versus money. I have a lot of time on my hands, and have only bought a few things to make the game easier (Wizard Schools for energy, Mermaid Pond for scales, etc.) I have enough energy to finish an event "for free" as long as I don't pursue any quests during that time. It requires logging in many times per day to use the 40 energy every 2 hours.

Someone with a demanding job and Real Life obligations may decide they'd rather spend the money than the time.

I hate to be a whiner & a complainer--but Wow! The drop rates are just awful! I just chopped through 13(!) rocks & got 6 maps (+ 2 gold nuggets) to go on the adventure. With the poor material drops, the adventure is a must for added drops. But I can't afford to spend that kind of energy again. And so boring with all of he chopping rocks & trees! I really thought S8 listened to us, because the last quest was so good & had reasonable drops & ability to finish. And I sure didn't care about another walker, but I'd really like to add the alicorn to my kingdom.

S8 has about 5 templates they use for updates. They just change the graphics. I, too, would like to see them tweak the template every now & then...change it up once in awhile S8. This has been going on for years. Monotony is a real game ****er.

Once again I think S8 is shooting themselves in the foot from a business standpoint. I still haven’t gotten any trick or treaters from the chests, so the others remain locked in town hall. At two hundred gems each, it seems they’d make more money if they unlocked them so players could purchase them. As someone else mentioned earlier in the thread, I would be more likely to spend gems on a sure thing than a maybe (I.e: chests with a minuscule chance of dropping a prize.)

Personally, I won’t spend gems on walkers, but I would have considered buying the pet bat from the previous event, which also never dropped from and of the treat bags.

I also agree 100% with Lorrainne, monotony is a game ****er. I too would love to see a change in the templates, or, even better, something completely new and different! For now, I am playing out of habit and living in hope that something will change.

I hope I don’t mess myself up for mentioning it, but I have had decent drop rates for materials. I guess it’s either/or, either decent material drops or decent prize drops. Lately I seem to be in the material group. Everything else is done, just waiting on a few more toy clubs.

The game is really unstable. I had that problem with the last quest as well. And it NEVER gives back your energy! I'd rather wait on an update than have something rushed out like this.

The small rock piles are definitely the way to go for fangbeasts. I have enough for boar tails for every upgrade (while needing 120 more threads). I have parked a boar for the remainder of the event.

I don't know, but sometimes chance works. I took a breath & spent 7 gems to speed up, with success. Not having had a drop in almost 2 days, I felt I had a chance. If I make it to the end, I'm headed to Vegas!
