Wow, 32 losses! I haven't been playing tournaments for a while as you may have noticed as I had been away travelling on business, then on vacation, and lastly to visit and help with my sick father. However, now that I'm home, I played the last tournament and now this one, and have noticed that they have been a lot tougher for players like us! In the Grandcaster tournament, my win/loss record was 30/23! In this tournament, I'm at 17/9 so far and stuck on Black Knight L19 with five straight losses so far.

This is definitely not a game to play anymore for relaxation! Thanks so much DS for taking the fun away (especially when there are so many more challenges for us in our lives)!!!

I got him with Star Lorikeet. Super rare blue/whites or Champs with blue and/or white (Honor, Huntress, Light Mother, Cleric, Moonrise, Unruly). Aquarknight, Jack, Islander, Starstruck, and Seaking are all good choices.

Hey Kevin - Welcome back

Yes all much tougher - I’m also on Rd 17 but with only 5 losses to BK so far. HOWEVER out of 16 rounds I’ve managed only 3 straight victories. Even lost Rd 1. And yes, I used all the right colours & all the right levels but Champ after champ defeated. I am definitely NOT enjoying this one little bit. But you know what? I am at the stage withis game that I am past caring. If average losses per round continue, I will never get to final round before time runs out so I can’t even be bothered sticking to hourly schedule. After all with so many still waiting to be healed what is the point. A few more like this and it will be time to spend all accumulated gold and bow out.
I so admire Skyharbour who manages to get thru with so few defeats. I have tried the copycat approach but Fire, Forest and Air obviously hate me because they just lie down and take it.
BTW is there anyway I can hand over my account to someone else. It seems ludicrous to waste what it has taken me so long to build not to mention the $ investment required to run 2 Dens and multiple nests

Welcome to the club. I have spent all day fighting BK. So far - Diamond 15 x3; Smitten 15; Fire 15; Achilles 13: Soccer 7; Metal 15; just to name some of them. In fact I have had more losses this tournament than any I can remember.
I think I’m over it. I will close down, wait 5 minutes and give it one more try.

What dragons have you tried so far? I wouldn't want to recommend any that you've already used.
I used my level 15 Diamond umpteen times and basically all my level 14 and 15 dragons. I finally beat it with... Foxglove :rolleyes:
Now time to regroup, Skeletal Knight is waiting... My poor dragons are black and blue, long line for the Spa :(

I finished today, had plenty of losses but I didnt press as much and waited out the losses on the L20 battles and didnt log jam my spa, and since there was 6 days on this one I didnt feel as pressured to push it like when there are fewer days.

It was also nice that the last 5 or so werent all 20 20 20 20 20 20 so I would lose maybe twice or three times and not ten times.

Glad you were able to beat Black Knight despite the number of losses. Sometimes it's really hard to defeat one dragon (and I really wonder why).

Anyway, after four attempts, I finally took down The Dark One 2.0 with Water (the same dragon that took it down the first time before it rolled back).

For what it's worth, when a baby Fire has worked for me it's been either the 1st OR 3rd try. If the 3rd didn't work I'd move on to something else but I've never won on the 2nd baby Fire.

It gave me the inspiration to level up Forest, Fire, Water, Air and Magic and, by golly, if it didn't make tourneys easier. Dark is almost there at level 14 right now.

Well, that was a rough one and I will be taking a break from the Arena for the rest of the week. I'll be too busy healing dragons round the clock for the next several days but I wonder who's going to heal me of the headache this tourney caused, lol.

I hear you on the break just to heal dragons but I have to say wonderful job for first, never giving up as I see Skeletal Knight made you do a whole new tournament and second, for plowing through the rest of this tournament. Even I had problems past Skeletal Knight.
On another note, I worry about S8 neutering Dark Dragon too and, if they do, they will lose me as a player and a helper in the forums. It's no reason for them to do what they did to Pyramid, Skeleking and Skelequeen at all and if they want to keep a speck of integrity, they'll leave Dark alone.

Yes, Bastian0 also inspired me to level up my commons to 15(Fire,Air,Light) but now that I have all those SR & UR champions, diamonds, hybrid champions, etc, single color dragons is a fall back in case the UR & SR can't win.
I do use the single element Metal 15 a lot in BTs. My Metal10 was a wimp, even at L12 but one poster here had a 40 win vs 0 loss with his Metal 15 against high level champions so I spent the apples. No regrets on raising Metal to 15, no more 20 - 30 losses to L20 champions.

Yes all much tougher - I?m also on Rd 17 but with only 5 losses to BK so far. HOWEVER out of 16 rounds I?ve managed only 3 straight victories. Even lost Rd 1. And yes, I used all the right colours & all the right levels but Champ after champ defeated. I am definitely NOT enjoying this one little bit. But you know what? I am at the stage with this game that I am past caring. If average losses per round continue, I will never get to final round before time runs out so I can?t even be bothered sticking to hourly schedule. After all with so many still waiting to be healed what is the point. A few more like this and it will be time to spend all accumulated gold and bow out.
I so admire Skyharbour who manages to get thru with so few defeats. I have tried the copycat approach but Fire, Forest and Air obviously hate me because they just lie down and take it.
BTW is there anyway I can hand over my account to someone else. It seems ludicrous to waste what it has taken me so long to build not to mention the $ investment required to run 2 Dens and multiple nests

Thanks Ellerslie6! Yes, unfortunately your tournament experiences are similar to mine and players such as AnnirasSweets and Nuicakes. It is sad that these recent tournaments have been made to be more difficult to get through starting with Battlemage back on 1st September (albeit that these 30 round tournament durations have increased from 5 to 6 days, which is an ominous sign)! I've theorized before that certain types of players get profiled and put into tougher groups (but haven't had the time to do a full analysis, but from the stats I've received to date from some players, it looks like the threshold is pretty low, or perhaps it is linked to gold spend; I haven't been able to find a clear common thread yet). I too use color matching, etc. but don't get anywhere near the level of success experienced by players like skyharbor602.

Players like skyharbor602 are truly blessed and back in June with the Ember Ruby tournament, similar to you (and as an experiment), I copied his/her results to no avail. Finished up that tournament with a win/loss record of 30/21 and none of my level 15 elementals managed to register a win. It was obvious to me then that I was being matched with a tougher algorithm.

I've had quite a few of my long-term neighbours leave the game as it was no longer fun or relaxing for them to play this game. I still derive some fun and satisfaction from the community aspects of the game, like striving to get as many people to work together to tie on Leaderboards for everyone to win the grand prize, etc. However, those days may be coming to an end and combined with hugely limiting aspects of the game like habitat expansion with Marble Keys (where I can no longer collect as many dragons like I used to as I have run out of space and can only clear land for 1 habitat per month), I won't be too far away from moving on. So, it will be sad to see you go as well. I keep repeating in this forum in the hopes that TL takes the feedback onboard that whilst there are those players that enjoy constantly increasing challenges, there are many of us that simply play this game to relax from our hectic lives and cannot play this game 24/7!

Anyway, don't give up and keep on trying for as long as you can. There are definitely better games out there designed for better fun and relaxation!
