Been getting ****ed on this one, way too many losses way too early. I think S8 is treating this tourney like it is a GPD dragon reward. It used to be that most tournaments were champ rewards, now if they ever do make one a reward you face like 20 impossible opponents and get your butt kicked just to earn it.

I dont think someone should lose like 10 times with key dragons at high levels to any opponent...especially at battle 17 with 13 to go. Way to motivate us to keep at it. Brilliant!

TOTALLY AGREE I have decided it?s a waste of time and gold to level up any more key dragons. This is the third tournament in a row I?ve had multiple losses against L15 champs that used to win against those same opponents. Tournament before last I gave up 3/4 way through after 18 losses against the same dragon. Still have dragons lined up at spa 2 tournaments later. Last tournament was similar as is this one. Main difference is the multiple losses started half way through. Last time I set my limit at 6 losses against same Dragon. This time I?ve lowered it to 5 so I?m predicting I?ll be dropping out in 2 hours or so. Can?t get past Azurite.

Would be helpful if the speed up option that some players get would appear on my screen more than once a month.

Good luck to those who persevere. 18 losses takes every bit of fun out of the game as does the list of wounded unusable dragons that you have to deal with for days after.

Though I finished this tourney within a respectable time frame (thanks to videos) it still felt like it took way longer than usual. I'm blaming this on the difficulty of opponents and the troubles I had staying connected to the s8 servers. Ugh.

TOTALLY AGREE I have decided it?s a waste of time and gold to level up any more key dragons. This is the third tournament in a row I?ve had multiple losses against L15 champs that used to win against those same opponents. Tournament before last I gave up 3/4 way through after 18 losses against the same dragon. Still have dragons lined up at spa 2 tournaments later. Last tournament was similar as is this one. Main difference is the multiple losses started half way through. Last time I set my limit at 6 losses against same Dragon. This time I?ve lowered it to 5 so I?m predicting I?ll be dropping out in 2 hours or so. Can?t get past Azurite.

Would be helpful if the speed up option that some players get would appear on my screen more than once a month.

Good luck to those who persevere. 18 losses takes every bit of fun out of the game as does the list of wounded unusable dragons that you have to deal with for days after.

Mmm...not sure if you're still game for it, but maybe try Hummingbird b/c my lvl 6 one also K.O Azurite with a Bash.

I had this exact same day of torture with Warrior Princess. She was my last opponent Saturday night and struggled with her all day Sunday (using mostly Diamond, Infinity, Metal, Valiant, Passion). Finally Diamond won at 2am this morning. Wishing you a better day of luck today!

Yesterday I winning during the day between Ice Knight to Azurite before I went to bed and won. After I woke up got coffee and went to battle. I was back to Ice Knight because I wrote down that I used Dame of the Darkness. I won again, I watched the videos but, can't battle so had to wait. Went to battle and I got Azurite. I'm very confused but, I glad I didn't have to battle the others again. It's just very odd that it happened

I'm so glad @Nuicakes started this thread and @Annirasweets posted results. After spending all day on Warrior Princess and finally using gold, I had 3 losses to Father and was getting frustrated. Smitten finally beat Father and hopefully the sailing will be somewhat smoother from here. I was doing alright until I hit Warrior Princess and it looks like there are more tough dragons en route to winning the tournament. This is definitely a tougher tournament.

I guess I can't complain to much, I have finished the last several tournaments early and without using gold. The last time I remember using gold was in June when some tough dragons coupled with a tough work scheduled limited my play time.

Man...there's nothing worse than being on the 29th round and having it bug out and cost me an arena match as if I had won/or lost. I quickly collected crops from 7 farms, then put an egg on one of the nests and then opened the arena to do the round.

It spammed me with all the bloody popups for the collected items, feathers, points, whatever (which is why I hate that they put them at the bottom of the screen, right where it aligns with all the other buttons to feed, etc) and I had done everything so fast that I selected one of the popups while I was already IN the arena. Brought up the WE menu, then dismissing it booted me out of the arena and now it's on cooldown as if I had played a round...

Guess that'll teach me to do things so fast while 5 billion popups are going berserk -__- Good luck to everyone else still battling too!

azurite is black-purple-blue so I won with Double Rainbow (rainbow-purple-green) level 10.
Pansy is pink-green so I used The Dark One (corrupt-champion-black-red) level 10.

This happened to me so many times! I try to only use magic when I see the windows popping up now since they only affect the bash button. It still gets me sometimes though.

Use anything on Pansy that have black and red or black and pink elements together like Goblin, Dapper, Rose Magma, Cardinal, Flamingo, Mask, Gatekeeper, Watermelon.

This tournament is effingly ridiculous. A few days ago, I got stuck with Warrior Princess for almost a day, so I decided to Ultimate it. And now I am stuck with Aquarknight with 23 hours left. I guess I'll have to use Ultimate on this stupid dragon just to get to the final round. -_-

Add me to the list. After my day with Warrior Princess My luck improved and I averaged just 3 or 4 losses per Dragon up until Rd 30. A’s you say we still have some time so perhaps I’ll make it. This is the closest I’ve got to finishing a tournament for weeks and weeks so I guess that’s an achievement in itself. I refuse to spend gold though - matter of principle. I’ve invested too much time and money in building up my L15 champions. If gold is still needed for defeats it’s all rather pointless. So far I’ve tried all the usual suspects plus any mentioned on this post that I have. I keep closing down hoping to see the video option appear but that too is a rare occurrence on my screen and when it does appear it is usually a non-tournament period.

I've been stuck on warrior princess too on both accounts. I've tried so many different ULTRA rare dragons to try and win but NOTHING is taking her down. I got stuck on this dragon in the last tournament which really hurt because it was the next to last round and I was oh so close to finishing. I have used ultimate attack in the past but I refuse to do so anymore. I almost feel like somehow I'm not doing as well in the tournaments after I used the ultimate attack and now the game is just plain greedy.

Used Dr. Strange Time reversal (roll back) and saved myself 4 golds b/c I foresaw the future and follow the 1 plan out of 14,000,605 outcomes.

For those who look for advice to beat a single element champion (such as Warrior Princess), I always say there's no one for sure dragon that would beat it. Trust me, I felt your frustrations. The most losses I've ever had to one dragon was 38 against Dynasty but, even with all those losses, I didn't give up and still won the tournament. The dragon that finally beat it was Ghost Armor from a previous Dragon Tales. My advice for beating hard opponents like those are to: 1. Try an ADIPS dragon (Achilles, Diamond, Infinity, Passion, Soccer) 2. If that doesn't work or you have none of those dragons, try a previous Dragon Tales dragon, 3. Level up a base dragon to level 15 (Air, Fire, Water, Forest) and see will one of them work, 4. Use disposable Fire or Forest. Hatch a Fire or Forest, keep them at level 1 and use them to fight. If they lose, sell them, hatch new ones and repeat while healing the good dragons. 5. Don't be afraid to use the same dragon against itself. You'd be surprised to see a level 10 Warrior Princess beat a level 19 Warrior Princess.
For champion hybrids (champs with more than one element such as Tribal, Cleric or Gentle Knight), look at the additional elements and choose fighters based on them. For example, I used Wardrum against Tribal because the black element in Wardrum is supposed to be strong against the yellow in Tribal. Most of the time it works but, in an unusual way, Wardrum lost so I chose my Virtue based on Pink being strong against yellow and it won.
I always say never depend on Diamond or champion type dragons to win every match, don't use level 15 dragons against dragons below level 6, and use a variety of dragons instead of the same one 20 matches in a row. This is how I got to the point of where every time I see a tournament, I know I'll get the prize.
Confidence is key, no dragon is above getting beat the normal way. A couple of people who post in the battle threads caught on to my advice and found that tournaments can be fun and now enjoy them like I do. Hopefully more of you will feel that way in time. You'll know when that time comes when you have the feeling that tournaments are no longer a chore.

Not a shill, in other words. I would hope his words would be taken at face value because he is sincere.

Besides, it took me up until level 140 before I had sufficient dragons to win a handful of tournaments. I don’t post anymore, because, life and work. I will also say, while some of the advice here has helped, I have also learned a few things like, force-close the game in between rounds. That was a tip given to me by amerirish, I think. A belated thanks!

I'm not an employee of Storm8, I've just been playing the game for years and got the hang of tournaments. I post advice and my results on the forums to truly help people from the bottom of my heart. Whether one feels my help is useful or not depends on the person.
As for losing 38 rounds on Dynasty, that did happen and this happened when the tournaments were 7 days. Yes, I lost 3 days on one dragon and I was as frustrated as some in this thread. By the way, it wasn't fun losing 38 times to one dragon if you read my post correctly.
My advice to you is if you don't like doing tournaments then don't participate in them. There's a lot of other things to do in Dragon Story. With that, I say have a good day.

Well thank you Mostreal! Smitten is definitely a great fighter and well worth leveling to 15 by mistake, lol. The dragons you listed are pretty good fighters but it's always that achilles' heel once in a while that shows up in tournaments but I see you already know that persistence and patience can work. Ha yes. I was laughing a bit at your post, though as you suggest not using one dragon to much and when I'm out and about during the later levels of a tournament I tend to use Glasswing as a 'go to'. I beat 6 or 7 dragons in a row in this last tournament with it!

I fully understand that my use of Ultimate is at most times an impatience thing - usually I will spend all day trying a dragon and then at least one battle the next day and then kind of go from there. For instance, I got impatient with Warrior Princess and had a Bingo card to fill. I was prepared to spend a lot of time on Aquarknight since I had 2 full days left or something and was surprised to beat him first or second try (I forget with who -probably Diamond or Achilles).

The game definitely gets better/easier when you have more levelled up dragons. I know it can take a while but it is definitely worth the food cost.

The Events are still a bit annoying. I like Dragon Tales and used to like Leaderboard but it has gotten harder. Community Event has been a struggle for a while. It is has gotten reasonably better - so long as they keep it the way it is, it isn't TO horrible....

Trust me, I can understand your frustration with this game but that's no reason to be rude to another player. The forum is a place where we can support and help each other and vent our frustrations but we should try and be respectful of others, especially someone like skyharbor who always seems willing to help others.

@skyharbor. A) You sound like somebody from storm8. B) In a 3 to 5 day tournament, I don't have the time or nor am i willing to spend the gold to lose against one dragon "38" times. But if you think that's fun..... I personally think that's storm8 screwing us over losing "38" times to one dragon. They want you to spend gold, And it sounds like you do EXACTLY what they want.

I'm constantly whining about multiple losses in tournaments but with help from players like skyharbor I've managed to finish every tournament for the past year without spending gold.

Completely agree. Skyharbor has helped me many times and I think we are very lucky to have sky on the forum.
